Body Shell Stripping and dipping advise

Post

i mean this service is a luxury and doesnt come cheap

but i have hear mixed things about the process

envirostripukltd.com

http://www.prostrip.co.uk/

the thought of having a completely stripped shell is amazing but the thought of having it dipped in acid is the most worrying

i work with metal and acid daily and the 2 dont mix very well

anyway anyone with thoughts on it or first hand experience?

There was a post on here a few years back where a guy had a mk1 campaign dipped and the roof gutters were rotten.
He proceeded to peel back the steel layers along the gutter and I was surprised at just how much rust was still lurking between the layers of metal. Considering they claim it gets it out it looked like a fail to me.
IMO the acid would absorb so far into this rust and be there to accelerate the rust. If you can't get the acid all the way in to the seams then surely you can't get the neutraliser in neither especially into rust that's already impregnated by a previous liquid.
I've also heard of cars falling apart at the seams 4 years after restorations but have never seen it first hand.
The other thing to consider it gets rid of every bit of sound deadening, sealer etc. So you have to re apply to the whole car inside and out - another cost.
I'm not sure this is or if there will ever be a solution to the problem of rusting classics. All you can do is try to slow it down.
The dipping method was very expensive when I looked into it if you went through all the stages and returning for a second dip after any work had been carried out.
