Modern seats in a mk1 - what can be made fit?

Post

My front seats are done too much play in the drivers side croc teeth are loose so its terminal.

Ive been seeing a lot of modern stuff on ebay - could a set of boxster seats be put in a mk1? Im just wondering would they be too low etc.

Or what about something like the modern day Scirocco seats? would the rear seats fit the mk1 (tin top)

Did you get the rear bench in? was it much of a mod to get the runners in place? Do quiffs sell a lit for it?

unsure if they sell a kit, believe the hardest part was lowering the seat, otherwise i would of been touching the roof with my head!
i haven't managed to get the rear done yet, there is a company in stoke on trent called something like deutsche doktors and they will transfer the material from a TT bench seat to a mk1 bench seat (which is what I'm looking to do) for less that £300 which is far better than the £1k quotes i have been getting elsewhere!

can use mk1 bases and weld other seats to them have done before with recaros although can sit a little high depending on seat

Yea the height is a problem I've seen it before with rococo seats in mk2 sits way low.

I'm surprised to hear the rear bench is so problematic  as it's surely just about getting a bench that's the correct width and height? It's not like the original bench is secured in much!

Has anyone fitted porsche seats ? 944 or the likes? These may be a better fit from a ride height perspective.

If the "drivers side croc teeth" are loose, then its not terminal, there's a plastic slider which should make it tight. They don't prevent the seat going back & forth - that's done by the pin at the front. If you use seats from another car, you'll still need to use the runners in the floor of the Mk1 and the base frame of a Mk1 seat welded/attached to it somehow.

I've replaced the plastic sliders on the seat and the front bush. The problem I'm having  is the seat back is not tight when it's in the fixed position. I've also replaced the round bushings at the back of the seat that get worn from letting people in and out of the back but again the problem is the metal teeth that the back of the chair have to stablise the back.

i thought the same about the rear bench seat. unfortunately the TT bench is slightly too narrow and the uprights are in two parts, rather than a single upright. reason for price being so high is because it is a bespoke job and isn't common. at one point was quoted £1k for each seat in the car! seems like I'm in the wrong business!
