yes i have fitted a auq into my cabby
if you have a 5 speed gear in the vrs then yes you can use it but you will need to change the driveshaft cups to 100mm ones and you may also find the gear ratios are to short due to the mk1 having such smaller tyres compared to the octavia. a lot of people have either gone for a abf box and a ctn box from a mk3 tdi. i went for the later due better cruising speeds
yes you will need to mate the 2 looms together, if your not confident in doing that both me and rubjonny  on here convert them to make it plug and play

Sorry to jump on too this post but I also need some help with a 1.8t conversion.
Just talking to a guy with a BAM full engine for sale and was wanting to know what I need form the original car/engine.  Ive only got a mk1 gti shell with no box or looms.  This guy mentioned that he could get me a stand alone ecu just to run the engine so with limited sensors and no diagnostics. is this the best way?  I take it I also don't need the downpipe, radiator or intercooler?
Thanks

It's preference really… If you want to play about with things and look at graphs on your laptop, also be easily tuneable to offer different boost for different gears then go standalone.. Oem is good if you want to plug and forget about it.. Diagnostics on the engine is good but theres not that much to them tbh! I was thinking oem this time and regret not taking the ecu with the lump..

What kind of money is in converting the loom?
