Accelerator cable sticking

In a bit of a sticky situation - pardon pun! Lol

I'm venturing in to the world of unknown really - no accessible funds for a garage at mo and my local garage guy cant do it til friday - when his boss is out! But need it doing today really…so am hoping I can do it myself - is this recommended? Lol

so was wondering if any of you lovely lot knows how I check this? And if I can tweak/adjust myself also or how do i know the difference between the cables broke to it just needs a tweak? Where do i look? Is this a step by step guide anywhere? Also Am I messing up the car if I drive it like this etc?

Any help would be massively appreciated x

right then :)

on the right had side of the carb is the cable

you can kinda side the cable coming in the front right hand side then it goes round a rocker thingy

when to twist it the accelerate is should spring back instantly, notice the big spring :)

then follow the cable bad and then is disappear into the bulk head, through a rubber grommet. just make sure this is free and the cable isn't trapped or has big kinks in it

then  you need to look under the dash at the top of the accelerator pedal. the cable should connect through a rubber grommet at the top of the pedal

it's hard to see but in the right position you can see it

got have  look a report back

Ok, once I got my bonnet open (had to find pliers as don't have a handle!! Bloody tough!)

I can see everything you say springs fine and cable etc, not trapped or anything.

Looked under throttle - no niggles - all fine - the pedal goes down and comes back but is sluggish - almost needs my foot to pull it back up at last cm or so if makes sense?

I can't see the what happening at front whilst I test pedal - wish I inspector gadget arms -

Does that help?

the leaver on the side of the carb you can twist that while you under the bonnet

twist it and see what happens

if the leaver spring back but the cable doesn't then there a problem with the cable

go try that :)

ok that must be alright then

is it a manual choke? just have a look at the choke cable which runs next to the accelerator cable

If the return spring and throttle lever on the carb are OK it could be (a) kink/tight curve in cable routing, (b) the inner cable is sticking in outer sheath, (c) the pedal/pedal arm itself is catching on something, (d) the bush in the pedal arm that the cable hook goes through might be causing a problem as these like to disintegrate at inconvenient moments!

Should be fairly straight forward but if you get stuck and need quick fix drop it round ours after work or can pop over. Might need parts though so good no what is wrong/broken first.
