1983 Papyrus Green 1.5

So with the Sportline sold and the house renovation in full swing I thought I'd better get another mk1 before the builders get their hands on all the sales proceeds.

The plan was to buy something old, small bumper and with a very tiny budget a tin top was out of th equation.

So I scoured through my old ebay watched listed and contacted all the cars I liked to see if they had been sold. It turned out this little golf had been messed about by other buyers on ebay (as you do.

After much attempt the seller was in contact with me and a deal was struck with the help of Hairyarse Mits530 walejase

She's done 70k, I have every reciept, Bill and everything from 1983, three owners (one family) and one other owner so four previous. It's had a paint job in the original colour, new roof and some coilovers, the interior is original and really period and retro and just what I wanted.

The owner kept his split rims and so I bought it home on the GL alloys which are in awful conditon and they ruined th car lol. The Coilovers were partly adjusted making the car sit odd, but that will all be sorted in good time.

I got her home yesterday and immediately gave her a wash as she had a year's worth of garage dust on her, she came up nice and shiny, and so I went on to fit some alloys I had ready and a new fuel cap.

Plan is to tidy it up, fit some chrome strips and enjoy her….

Herese some pics of the first 24 hours of ownership. I was up until 1am playing….

A simple wash and polish makes all the difference. You must be well chuffed.

Thanks Shughy  I haven't even cleaned the roof, I literally gave the car a quick 30 min wash and dry.

The roof needs some attention with a nail brush and some g101, it new vinyl but needs a good scrub.

The wheels have transformed it.

Ordered some new biscuit colour mats from GavB95 , some chrome strips from classic-vw and a chrome aerial is on route as its black at ththe moment and broken…

It's funny because on the sportLine I wanted a black aeriel and this time I want chrome lol….

I'll get some interior shots up at the weekend..
