I have a Mars red 4 door tin top I bought just before Christmas with running issues.
It had been fitted with a mk2 1.8 from a driver with a weber dmtl.
my original plan was to ditch engine and chop some holes and make a 1.8t quattro but as the sunny days keep popping by I can't wait so need to get it on road!
I noticed the carb flange was split so rather than buy a carb flange I decided I'd rather put my gti engine in instead seen as I had all parts gathering dust.
seems like more work but it's not that hard on an engine like these.
I'm most ready to run now just need to plum fuel lines in, sort a couple of breather pipes, fit wiring loom and time it up happy days!

The mk2 job was dog. I thought it just needed 2 doors but was rotten as a pear.
But I've had 2 before wich were solid so you can get good ones.
Just check and double check it over.

1.8t quattro mk1 long term project
The mk2 engine is finished and running sweet now.
I've managed to fabricate some mounts for the rear bench and then treated the old girl to some new suspension and brakes and then smartened her up with some new wheels to replace the boring steelies, a new grill, cross hair headlights lights and full red tails and super shiny stainless bumpers.
Will be spending next few days flatting and buffing the paint as it's not been done and all orange peely so will take some better pictures then.
