Hi from Italy

Hi guys,
This is David, writing from Italy…

I have a 1983 Golf 1.8 GLi Cabriolet White Edition, pretty much in original conditions.

The car was bought new from my aunt, and always kept in my family, so we really love it. It has been a daily drive until 1999, then used only on summertime for some trips around lake area where I live and for some long hauls like France and Germany.

Now, I'm fixing some minor maintenance issues… just small things in order to have her perfect. Mileage up to now is about 100.000Mi/160.000km.

Here some pictures (sorry for bad quality, I only have my cell phone right now with random pics on it) I'm very happy I found this club; in Italy we only have a generic Golf club, mostly dedicated to new models.

Welcome David! They're great pics and a great cabby

Thanks for stopping by the forum.

It's a nice story that it's been in the family since new. It looks clean, does it need any work or just drive and enjoy it?

In 15years we had just minor things replaced for precaution, not for failure, like fuel pump, radiator, timing belt etc…

I had only some electrical problems, but pretty much easy to fix.

She has always been a reliable spare car, when other cars are out for maintenance.

This summer we'll do some paint works and fix some minor rust problems.
In order to have her perfect, I'll mount the right chrome front grille, the right small white spoiler instead of the big black, will replace the windshield chrome molding and will replace some roof rubber parts as in heavy rains some drops fall on the carpet.

My aunt had an accident in late '80s and the coachbuilder didn't use all the right parts to fix it, that's why some details needs to be replaced.
