they have the mk2 inner spots does anyone know if these are the same dimensions as the mk1s i have in my grill???

As far as I'm aware they are that same across the board on headlights between a Mk1 and a Mk2 so they should fit perfectly mate.

Some of the aftermarket lamps on the evil bay claim to fit both Mk1 and Mk2 mate.

mk1golfgtisportline, whereabouts are you in west yorks?
you should come to our next meet, it's down in buxton on 24th feb.

there's quite a few of us leaving brighouse and then meeting up with other mk1's from other areas, such as wrexham and chester, there's a thread on it in the regional meets section, the one with 11 pages

You can clean the mist away, nothing to loose and may save you a few quid.
Myn where very cloudy but results below.

take off front grill - two screws on top and a further two under the corner gromets.
Unclip from the inside and gently pull away, disconnect inner lights at this point.

Once you have the unit off gently straighten the three tabs holding the bulb holder to the reflector.
pictures at bottom to help. Be carefull not to break earth tab, which i nearly did on one.

Once you have got this away you can then clean the inside of the unit gently.

assemble is the reverse as they say.

pic showing tabs strightened

pic showing holder removed so you can get better access to clean insides.

stick em in the dishwasher 8O or just use washing up liquid and a bit of time. got to do mine when it stops raining (and the other half is not in so i can bring more of my car inside)

just used a soft clean cloth to clean the inside, ie put in the light and work around lense. took my time and ensured I cleaned the full inside of the lense, easy to miss bits.

milky white before so does work.

"am i missing something here? doesnt the light bulb fitting have to be out to fit ur fingers in to clean it? i dont have the smallest of hands "

not missing anything, thats spot on.

Once you remove the grill and disconnect the bulbs you then have access to the tabs on the inner spots. Straighten these and then you can pull off the bulb fitting, leaves you with a hole plenty big enough. Got another pic will post once photobucket lets me in.

will become more obvious when you have started.
