Audi 80 steering wheel on a MK1?

Im thinking about getting a Nardi steering wheel for my Golf but I cant find a boss for it that easily, but I can get hold of a boss to fit an audi 80/90/quattro etc. quite easily. Would I be right in thinking that this would fit my MK1 steering column or would I need an adapter to make the spline larger?
