using the Led part of an angel eye headlight as indicators with the front bumper removed on mk1 gti campaign
Yeah the description is basically the idea, and I just wanted some opinions on the legality and whether or not anyone has tried this.
I understand angel eye headlights are naf and don't suit the classic nature of the mk1, and I'd never consider them normally. I was just thinking of ways to remove the front bumper without doing any heavy mods to make it legal.
I also want to mention that obviously the led part would be painted orange.
So yeah if anyone has any information regarding this or just general advice on whether it's legal that would be sound.
also would it require any major mods to the indicator wiring ?
Thanks !

main problem is when the dip or main beams are on would they be visible enough?
one way I've seen it done was with smoked side repeaters hidden in/below the grille

Google Daniel Sterns lighting to see the functionality of it.
While I never had "halo" or "angel-eyes" on one of my rides I did have Projector lamps, with a Blue bulb in the center of the top. I tied that in to the turns, it worked…blinked opposite to the turn. (see daniel stern lighting)

This isn't something I plan on doing soon, just a thought as money is tight at the moment.
The head lights blinding out the use of indicators probably means this is illegal, didn't think of that ! Aha.
Cheers once again, will let you know if anything develops on this situation.
kind regards,
Bill.

If you use LED style indicators you'll need a ballast to regulate the current or the LED's won't work. They take such little power that the are effectively overloaded.
I'll see if i can find a picture somewhere

When I have some spare cash I'm going to look further into this.
I think as mentioned the fact that they will be difficult to see when the head lights are on might render this idea illegal.
either way thanks again ! I'll keep you updated on this, let you know how it goes if I end up trying something.
Kind regards,
Bill.
