Sounds a fabulous car… when it was new and someone else was paying for it as a company car (as it 99.9% probably was).

Now its 6 or 7 years old and @100,000 miles still sounds a fabulous car but I wouldn't like to be the one paying the inevitable bills it will now be generating.

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

I have one. C7 variant. My third a6. Gets a genuine low/mid 40's on a run, mid 30's on a 16mile commute, 0-62 5.9secs as standard, I've had a remap and a miltek. The newer the car the more plastic it has. My 1997 A6 2.4 V6 was sold at eight years old, 147k miles on the original exhaust too, interior was like new, my last 07 plate A6 was sold at c125k miles, had it valeted before I sold it and it came back like it was when I bought it. The newer model is lighter, feels a little less quality, but is faster and more economical and has some neat tricks.
Pricey, but I'd buy it again tomorrow only competition I noted was the 4wd bmw 5 series.
I'm pretty impressed with it. I've yet to have a drag race with my brothers sq5, should be interesting  :o

I've got the 3.0 TDI Quattro Le Mans estate - 57 plate.

Nice car - goes well and handles incredibly well for such a large car. You can cover ground very quickly in one.

Manages an indicated 34.9mpg over mixed driving - costs just under £100 to fill up and does about 500 miles on a tank…i don't particularly abuse it so it's quite thirsty and wouldn't fancy it as my daily (but i do a 120 mile round trip commute).

No major issues with it - i live in a rural location and it has proven to be sensitive to pot holes. 19' wheels and tyres at £200 a corner is quite painful. I spent £750 in the first six months of ownership on two new tyres and a second hand alloy due to pot holes….I quickly learned to be more careful.

They have a few known issues like the swirl flaps failing which requires, in theory, a new inlet manifold @ circa £1200 a side from Audi. However, there are repair kits available or complete reconditioned manifolds available for a fraction of the price these days.

That said, they are big expensive cars so as they get older, things will need doing and it could mean big bills. However, they are coming down in price now so if you factor in the fact you're getting a lot of car for less money….then you can set aside some spare for potential big bills.

Y plate Mk1 GTI
65 plate 430d - newest addition
52 plate VW Bora - daily hack [255k]
15 plate 330d Touring - wife's car
