How do i re-align a door that has dropped

Does anyone know and show me how to re-align a door that has dropped slighty, it is for my friends mk2, i have been told a need a wheel nut.
Anyone done this and can show me excactly where to place the nut

has it dropped due to pins being worn? or because someone has bent by leaning on it?

Not sure, But i noticed the car in a scrappers approx 4 year ago and i knew he wanted a good cheap car, it only had one owner thou signs of the owner not being liked i.e. glass inside interior and dents to bodywork, but the car is a dream to drive, so possible dropped due to attempted break in, i was gunna just lift the door my self and bend it slighty but i did not want to damage it, so knew about this trick about as i would rather try that first
It has done 172,000 and runs like a new car, so drivers door might have worn slighty with all that mileage of opening and closing, plus it is a 3dr and doors are bloody heavy on a mk2

On a Mk1 you can put a washer between the hing and bracket on the top to lift the door.

Have you got a pic rich just incase hinges are of different design

i've physicly lefted a door many a time, because it  wasn't the pins. it works fine, just dont do it to much as it will weaken the metal

Replace the king pins packing the hinge is a bodge.

Just read this tutorial, i don't understand it really! How can putting a washer in the top hinge pull the door up at the top?

Just wanted to get it clear in my mind before i do it to my car!
