To buy or not to buy

 Have been looking at possibly swapping my points for electronic ignition. Is there a much better performance enhancement as suggested by the websites selling them I.E smoother running, better starting and the biggy better MPG?

I have a 1.5 82 cabby and think i am currently getting around 31mpg which i guess is right for this vehicle but as they say every little helps!!!!

Fitted 3 of these to other people's mk1's after my olde friend novocaine shown me how to.
All 3 said much better and would never go back to points.
All 3 are still running sweetly today no issues.
Get it done fella.
Approx 30 minutes fitting time including tidying up cables etc.

Defo do it, if anything it just saves time when it comes to maintenance…because there is none! Though it will probably throw the ignition timing out a bit!

should you upgrade the coil also?

I got my electronic ignition in a kit with a lucal sports coil. Because my coil was a bit tired and wasn't at its best, though if your coil is ok, I don't see the point in spending the money, because it won't make a difference!
