Hi people! I've just changed my plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm, all went well for once lol! Although, when I took the plugs out, the one in the 2nd cylinder had oil on it. Does this mean my piston rings have gone ion that piston? The other 3 plugs were fine, it runs alright too, there is a quite bad patch of soot on the floor from the exhaust where I leave it to warm up in the morning, would this happen anyway or is the burning of some oil causing it? Or something else maybe lol?

Thanks for any help

oil on the tip? more likely to be the stem seals rather than the rings, but it could be rings. does it smoke on over-run or when you boot it? or is it just a bit of smoke in the morning that clears

I don't think it smokes when I boot it, not that I boot it often and defo doesn't on over run, the smoke just clears when it's warmed as far as I'm aware! Yeah there was oil on the tip and all round the side as well! The oil stem seals in the head were replaced when I did the head gasket 7000 miles ago if that helps the diagnosis

ok does sound liek stems, maybe one of them didnt quite seal on that cylinder.

are you sure its from inside the chamber  though, and not leaked down from rocker gasket and around the thread, then to tip after you unscrewed it?
