Nope, she's coming to Edition38 with me next weekend and going in the For Sale section there.

Still holding out for the right price though.

Something must be wrong if you don't even get the slightest hint of interest. The price must be far too high or a fault is apparent that you have failed to declare.

I hope you can count?

No way :o This is in tip-top condition and i'm sure an enthusiast will snap this up.  I've seen it in the flesh.  Its worth the money as its very rare and a minter.  How many of these do you still see, even at shows like Gaydon :dontknow: Just that 3750 is a lot of money for most people even though its well worth it.

Baltipie had the same problem when he was selling his series one, but he sold it in the end.

I don't allow judgement to cloud my mind   The 6th picture shows the panel gap between the bonnet and the scuttle panel far to large and the gutter has got a dent in it. The scuttle panel near the front wing appears to be filled and the door strip is not straight, it kicks up slightly towards the rear arch.

Having said all that Rabbit has put an offer on the table for you to think about ?2,500

Hell fire, you must have very sharp eyes if you can see that from those pics.  There is no way Hux would hide anything if he knew, as he's a nice guy.  I'm sure Hux will clarify these issues, but i'm sure he would laugh at the offer for 2.5k  Afterall, his asking price is practically what he paid for it.

Sounds like to me your one of those guys who thinks you can buy a minter for next to nothing.  Any ideas what these things cost to restore to imaculate condition :dontknow:

Add to that, the front spilt lower spoiler which is not a genuine VW item, it appears to be a GSF replacement part.

I think considering this is a for sale add and not a general discussion about his car, you should quit it.  Your not doing him any favours.

Look it's not a matey thing, its about true representation of the car in question. I'm genuinely interested, but need a detailed breakdown of all the non genuine parts that have been replaced, along with any minor irregularities. The point is I don't want to waste his/her time by arranging an appointment to view and end up pulling the car apart.

Surly thats what a phone is for , is it not !!. That way you can ring the seller up and query there car and ask any things you may want to know. Instead of commenting on all the imperfections that you think you have spotted in a photograph.

WHS/\

If you don't think it's worth the money move on and wait till you find the right one. Don't try to undermine his sale ad just so 'Rabbit' can get it for peanuts. It's not going to happen.  :|

I was merely trying to discuss the imperfections of the car that I have noticed with the true owner. If he/she likes they can pm me with all the details, so I can reconsider my offer. I can?t see what harm I?ve done in discussing the imperfections in full public view anyway.

What does worry me a little is that small patch above the wing, which looks to be bogged and blown over.

Right, all I have said about the car is what I know. I do not pretend to be any kind of specialist or mechanic and so all that I can comment on is what I know myself and what I have been told.

I was not the person to restore the car and so from that all I am able to say is what mr_gti has told me and the large pack of receipts I have from this restoration.

To my knowledge the car is exactly as I have described and if for whatever reason you feel that it is not, then you know more than me!

I have priced the car according to the price guide ( The Mk1 Golf Owners Club ) which states that this car at this price should be "Original or restored with very minor cosmetic defects to paint or trim and mechanically flawless" So in other words a great, restored car in very good condition but is not 100% perfect, which I believe to be a true likeness for what I know of my car.

Well worth the asking price in my opinion. Unfortunately some people with little experience of the early cars do not realise where the value lies. You are looking at ?600 - ?1000 just to get an interior to this standard.

You can`t tell from photos the true condition of any car so if anyone was really interested they should go and look for themselves, series one`s don`t come along very often and when they do there not always 100% authentic .So its worth doing your homework and having a good look round.
