Another Mk1 To the fold

Got this recently off the old e-bay.

'78 1.5 GLS 5 door Series 1 - The car is not for parts!!

Need a brown dash for it if anyone has one.  Starts and runs well.  needs a little welding on the driver's rear sill and a little on the a post - otherwise quite a sound shell  :D

Needs some chrome bumpers  , dash replaced, wing strips and a little TLC

oh we are sooo addicted to our cars. why do i get the impression that if you lot had a 10 car garage you'd have 10 Mk1s. by the way, if anyone knows where theirs a cheap early 1.6GTi for restoration that i can play with alongside my Clipper let me know. (subject to talking wifey into it)

Woohoo, no leaks... splash... Damn!...

I love the yellowness! Very 1978! I hope you can T-cut the paintwork to its original shine, it will look very retro then. My parents owned a silver Golf GLS (VCF248S), and its what got me into them. Its good to see you also have the original raised lettering number plates too.

Nice one rich. Saw this on ebay, Me thinks you got a bit of a bargain. Would be good to see some 'progress' pics when you get started.

Does anyone know if you can still get this type of number plate, as mentioned above????

Crazyquiff isn't the only one who's been acquiring more Mk1s. With the ongoing restoration of my GTI (which seems to be a troubled teenager) I've decided to take a risk and 'splash out' on a cabby! It was really dusty when I picked it up, but its scrubbed up really nice and seems to be in really solid condition!

Its a bit of a funny spec, its a 1600 GL Automatic.

One thing I've been wondering about, are those wheels standard and if not, what would it originally have come with?

nice one paul - yes those wheels were standard - I have white one on my cab.  they are AVUS wheels.
