Car has just gone into the garage to get its MOT - Yay!
I'm expecting it to fail and whatever it fails on my dads local garage is going to sort it (I haven't got the time to do it myself at the moment, doh!)
Will let you know how it goes and also post up some pix of my lovely refurbed RA's!

Yes Phil, i've been proper rubbish of late with meetings - I blame work trips, but depression at my two not fully-functioning cars is also a factor!
However, just heard from the garage who say its failed on the obvious things and that the electrics need looking at. Doesn't sound too bad so I should be down at the next meet as long as the sunroof gets sorted!

Came back from the garage after loads of work had been done. Costs a fair bit but the car is now much closer to completion.
I changed the temp switch but this has still not made the fan kick-in. Think i'll be off to an electrical specialist for that, as well as the alternator (Charging light has just come on and battery not really holding much charge).
I just need to get my Cav sold now and i'll be full steam ahead getting the last few bits done. I took her for a quick drive and she felt great, the engine in particular being smooth as silk   . The brakes have been refreshed and are now working much better, especially with that 16v serbo
Just need to get the electrics and final bits of the body sorted and she'll be there!

I did my first proper electrical fix ever and it went great! Rich told me that my alternator light being on and the battery going flat was probably down to the voltage regulator and by jove, he was right! I took off the alternator and swapped the part over witha nice new one from GSF and now there is no more charging light on when she's running
Tomorrow a Cat2 system is being fitted by TUK who are also going to make a quick electrical check-over (if they get time)
She'll be on the road very soon now and I can't wait!

Just had the immob fitted today and Tuk tidied up the electrics and fixed a few bits. I haven't seen the results yet but the old man says they look to have done a great job - cheers guys! Will report my findings back as soon as i've seen the car again (SO excited - can't wait!).
Also been told that teh cooling system isn't working properly so i'm going to change the thermostat this weekend hopefully.
Cheers and any comments welcome!

Been very busy on the car for the past couple of weeks so thought I would drop you all an update and some new pictures!
TUK did a fantastic job - I'd recommend them to anyone - cheers guys! They fitted the AutoWatch Cat2 system and tidied up my electrics a treat. All that was left for me to do was re-fit the shelves at the bottom of the dash and plum in the air vent. While this was going back together I also fitted the gear lever gaiter and gave everything a general tidy-up
Shelves back on
I mentioned the cooling system in my previous post - Well, that turned into quite a drama! It was suggested that the thermostat may need replacing so I purchased a new one for 6 whole pounds (below) and set about fitting it.
New thermostat waiting to go on (It waited nearly a week!)
As I was taking off the cover the bolt snapped off - doh! This meant the whole water pump had to come off, double doh! (below) I thought insted of getting the stud drilled out i'd just fit a new pump (Though the one on there wasn't that old to be honest).
The old water pump with snapped stud in-situ.
Anyways, while the water pump was off I had better access to the block. I cleaned it up and painted what I had missed previously with high-temp stuff (Below)
Freshly painted block
Even after replacing the thermostat and the water pump (And the temp switch!) the cooling fan would still not cut it. After about 2 days of trouble shooting I gave up and called the RAC. Turns out the cooling system needs to be pressurised for it to work properly, so they put the expansion cap on and it worked fine ops: ops:   TRIPLE DOH! Oh I did blush….
Anyways, now the car is cooling great, is MOT'd and insured the only this left was to take it for a drive for the first time in a very long while…
Here she is at the local petrol station. I stuck in some injector cleaner and filled her up. Although she's still not fully finished I think you'll agree she's getting close…
When I got back I tried the CD player on the off-chance it'd still work after being unused for the last 3 years (At least) Well knock me down with a feather, it did! And all 4 speakers work and sound great too! Yesterday was a momentus day for me and the car is now my daily driver (The Primera got sold last week :mrgreen: ). Just bought some new pedal rubbers that i'll be fitting this week, too. I still need to sort the following and this'll get done in the next few weeks;
1. Bodywork needs adjusting by the passenger side front door
2. Wire-in front fog lamps
3. Get new RA centres
4. Wax again and again
5. Proper clean of the windows
6. New boot strut
7. Repair of rear shelf mounts
8. Fitting of stide-stripes
9. Purchase of campaign leather steering wheel
10. And other things as they arise..
I'm one very happy bunny and will be going back up to my dads house this week to collect her and drive back - I can't wait!
