Mk1 golf gti sportline in Red

After searching for nearly 2 years for the right Sportline in a Red , I finally found one !!!! All good things come to those that wait thay say ….. well I nearly gave up at one point 😬😬 . With just 92,000 miles on the clock 5 owners and was kept really well by previous owner had alot major work done past 2 years a credit to them .  As soon as saw the car up for sale  I left work early and drove that same day 60miles and purchased it i wasn't going to miss out on this one . It was a birthday present to myself , well that's what told the misses. Plan is  to keep it original but upgrade areas where needed , improve it make it better. 5E14C539-7B83-4BC3-AD9B-18ED212D5A1A.png Must admit everyone seems really nice on this forum and I could do with some sound advise 👍🏼 9877508F-585A-4610-B7BA-8F8DA38F8BD8.png 412257A2-050A-4C38-8173-C1FD3C6B937D.png

After getting her home spent most weekend detailing the car , top to bottom . The paint work came out quite well I was happy with the finished. One good thing is wheels were recently refurbished look like new so one less job to do .

I noticed  wheel arches needed a proper clean so I removed all wheels got to work , this must taken 2 hours each arch but come out well!! While wheels were off gave them them a wax inside and out.  B477C86B-B954-4952-B660-F8922C044CCC.png 4B5C187F-3992-4E24-BC7B-90DE2EB49D36.png 4C04494B-1171-4239-A762-DB49E3BD0D15.png C0788876-8057-4AD0-9D6B-

Next we're the seats , thay  looked little stained no tears or holes in them but just needed a good wash. As I didn't have a machine to clean them myself I used a company I have  used previously . He wasn't sure how thay would come out but would do his best , to say chuffed understatement. The seats really do look like well now .  0F0981E8-A972-48FA-883D-B760BE6504E7.png 273C56BF-3B8C-45C7-A36B-F8A6F064FEA2.png 1B3713C5-7708-48A4-861D-1DED50CFF484.png DEF892D1-B5BF-49D1-A741-16A3BF5CEE7E.png

My first purchase for the car was German steering wheel, it was in great condition, picked it up for a good price on eBay . I heard great things about Royal steering wheels so got restitched in black Napa leather red stitching . Can't wait to get it on . Also purchased  leather gaitor to match. As I wanted to keep the car stock as possible I bought a Gamma 3 stereo from Hugh vwgolf1.com , great service and fast delivery. Hugh always has time to give his knowledge to novices like myself . The stereo great condition for its age  C8F26D1B-7255-4662-B958-79D1A510A31C.jpeg

It's going take me few sessions of cleaning to get it to where I want it to be. Maybe get the underneath of the car seal waxed. At a later date .

Few updates on progress , recently went round the car made a list what I needed mechanically , this list can go on and on  I needed to know when to stop !! The  car was well maintained by previous owner 75% work was completed, but it just need few things addressing . First thing I wanted to start on was suspension it needed replacing upgrading  . My first intention was to go for bilstein b12 pro kit but on 2nd thoughts I went for standard suspension with eibach springs as the car is only used in summer , I wanted comfort more than performance. So I went for these from classic Vw , standard suspension with eibach springs, thanks to Mark for his advise and help .
