4dr Scrap car going full restore + 3,2 24V engine

Post

Just another never ending money pit.

Hi Everyone.

2 years ago I bought this car and posted a few pictures in here. I thought I could post updates on the project, but it turns out I suck at taking pictures and uploading them.

Well now I decided to give it a go, to share my journey with this project, and to get input from you guys.

Feel free to add a comment. :thumbs:First pictures is as I got the car. I'm living in Denmark, and got the car from Poland, where the car was used everyday and had just past MOT?, :$ not sure is mot is the right name, the car had just past a yearly test to say it is allowed on the road. So I thought the project would be easy, well I was wrong. O_o

For me It was important it was a 4dr version. It is very rare to see Mk1's with 5dr around here, and with a family it is much easier to get approval with the wife if the car has 4dr's :D

Don't know if the pictures will upload? Or i do something wrong…

Here is some more pics. Obviously there was rust, but far more than I thought, thinking thius car was road legal in Poland, It wouldn't be in Denmark.

Well when the car is in the stand and can rotate and everything is disassembled, it was actually quite fun…

Here is the Rear beam attachedment point in one side it was pretty bad..

Both inner fenders rear was too bad to repair. So to complete new inner archs was installed, I was a bit scared to remove them when the car was hanging in the stand, but everthing worked out nicely.

Under seal, beams, thingys ?? Don't know the right term.

When I removed these there where some hard yellow vax or something inside, anyone knows what that is, and is it possible to get it ? Could be nice to fill it up again…

these pillars where an pretty easy fix.

Complete new front end:

Made a simple bracket to bolt the front to the car in the right place. Painted every overlap and welded it up.

Thank you for the feedback    Yes as it turned out this was a big project :) But I enjoy it..

Here I reinforced the front end for it to better handle the extra load.

Soo, I already had the R32 engine, 170.000 km, 1 owner so that nice  ;)

IMG_0016.JPG

I needed gearbox, clutch, brakes etc. Decided to buy a complete passat vr6 and sell everything i didn't needed, turned out I got more out of parts than I payed for the car, so that was also Nice

IMG_0051.JPG IMG_0050.JPG

Started on prefitted brake Servo and clutch servo.
