Those rear shocks are scrap, throw them away and buy some new shocks, keep hold of the nuts etc.

They look like the original shocks, 136,000 miles and 30 ish years probably at the end of their life…

How do they feel if you push them down, any free play?

Mark gls why all the negative comments  ??
Why is every thing scrap
Why keep nuts and bolts when they most easy parts to get.
You know some of us work our arses off get what we have and appreciate everything we got
may be they do look old and rusty but hey so what
Does your car not have any rust on anything ! ! !
Some of us being in motor trade most our lives Ive been in it 35 years.
Ok something might not look new  but it still does the same job as a new part so why scrap ?
If you are in motor trade you know 90% new parts are just cheap rubbish which don't last. !

Sorry if it seems I'm being negative, I'm not…

What I'm saying is shock absorbers wear out and don't last for ever, I'm about to buy my 4th set of shocks and springs in 30 years and 301,000 miles…

The other stuff in the picture looks like it could be saved no problem but why clean and repaint worn out items which are consumables, shocks are important parts and keeps the tyres in contact with the road…

At the end of the day it's your own car and can do/spend what ever you wish, Im just here offering advice as it's easier to replace some parts while things are apart instead of put it all back together and then have to take it all apart again 6 months time.

if i need to buy new i will but why
buy if i have perfectly serviceable
parts at my disposal which makes
sense to me certain projects in vehicle
restoration you are unable to buy parts
that are required so you have to use what
you have or adapt convert parts as close to
the look of the originals we have an AC greyhound
in storage where could you buy anything  to bolt
on to that
