That is one beautiful Golf!
I think we are definitely in appreciating assets…if it's kept completely original. I imagine every year a couple are lost to accidents or rust so they will just become rarer. Eventually all cars that have some kind of following or cult status become more expensive to buy. See how much a low mileage Calibra Turbo or Nova GSi in standard condition go for!
Wish I had gotten hold of a Golf Rallye or Mk2 16v back in the day and stuck them in a garage lol

Thanks for the reply and yes there all going in one direction and will never stop. I mean have a good look round at the Mk2 GTI, the prices in the last few years have gone through the roof.
Say 2015 you could if you did your homework pick up a half decent GTI for a grand or 1,500. Now you'll be lucky to pick one up for 4k and more for the exact same car!

Half a dozen times a year here on the forum someone will ask the question, "Will prices continue to go up?"

I reply and say, tell me a time when they went down?

It will only go up.
The increases might slowdown from time to time as well as jump but they can never go down!


If you keep them completely original or mod it a little that can very easily be undone then you'll never lose except when.

You over paid in the first place.
Bought a heap of cräp that just has been tarted up with a new paint job.
Or modded it to death spending thousands.

Other than that you're investment is pretty well bomb proof providing you have fully comp with agreed value insurance! :thumbs:

Thanks, it is a genuine 2.3 HS  that I converted to a Group 4 replica of Pentti Airikkola's 1979 RAC car when he won the Sedan British Rally Championship.
I have used it at Rally Day at Castle Combe and Pentti himself has been in the car just before he sadly died.
He loved it too.

 Afraid so LOL.
There are thousands of RS2000's but less than 400 genuine Chevette HS's and HSR's
  There are also thousands of RS2000 replicas out there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think there must be more RS2000's registered now than ever built!

There are also hundreds of Talbot Lotus Sunbeams but only a handful of Sunbeam TI's as a lot of people turned them into Lotus clones.
Mine is also a Series1 version so very rare, most are Series 2's which had the lotus wheels and interior and the bigger front grill and lights.

I am only the third owner of the TI it was in a garage for 20 years, its all original, never welded and only covered 73K miles since new in May 1980,.
My son is looking after it now I think it has only covered about 200 miles in the last 3 years, need to use it more! O_o

Faster than anything out of Boreham (off a cliff, due to beefy crews), special unreinforced bendy bodyshell (don't mention the flight of steps) heavy duty indicators like a BMW (never used).
