Mark1 thanks for that kit suggestion. I have the same Eibach pro kit springs, but not the bump stops. It's actually a good price. Even with shipping to Canada!

I've pushed off my install until I can get these components.

No worries, sorry I did not realize you was in Canada.

Some places do sell just the shorter bump stops and covers, I think the ones in the kit are made by Febi but not 100% sure?

I have before cut a section out of the bump stop and glued the 2 ends back together but over time the glue breaks and you need to re glue them back together.

Instrument cluster lights came today I ordered the 2W ones as before there was only 1 working and it was the standard 1.2W. I managed to do this without taking the steering wheel off as I didn't have a 24mm socket, Looks much better now and I can actually see what speed I'm doing when it goes dark outside ha! Roofs booked in for next Tuesday also they're sorting my drivers seat out will get some pics posted when it's been done. Looks good! Even the clock is lit.

Where did you buy the bulb kit?

I've been thinking of doing it, but not sure how many of what type of bulb I need.

It needs 3 bulbs 1 for speedometer 1 for rev counter and 1 for the clock. Check that they're all working before putting the full dash back together as I did to find 1 wasn't working 😡. You can get them off vw heritage or also on eBay.

Does anybody know if you can install these chrome grill inserts onto the twin headlight grills like this guy has done? On vw heritage and classic vw they say it can only be done on single grills? Cheers

CAr went in today for the new hood and to have the seat sorted out hopefully should be back in time for Budburg on Sunday, first show I'm going to in it! Took it to a tiny little unit as you can see from the pics that I was recommended by someone he specialises in car hoods.

Well worth the expense of a new roof to keep the car water tight.

I've been recommended using this stuff on here for my vinyl roof to keep it supple and protect it from sun etc, can't comment on how good it is yet as the roof is only 6 months old, but when I did use it the water beeded nicely on the roof and just blew off.

I guess you have fitted another vinyl roof?

Thanks for the bulb details Brad . I need to find a replacement clock as well, the LCD has run in the corners.

I found this info for your chrome grill: "There is also what is known as the Hella grille insert which is the same as a '79-'87 grille except it has lights in the center section. This grille came stock on many Cabriolets in Europe. If installing this grille on A/C-equipped cars, the A/C condenser will most likely need to be relocated or removed.  (Also available in aftermarket versions as well as badgeless.)"

My car is in getting some spot paint work done. Hope the blending turns out. BTW if you need to touch up the paint, our paint code is Bronze Grey Metallic LA8Y.

I've been searching all day and found the same info about the hella grill but cannot seem to find a new 1 anywhere, there's 1 on eBay but the plastic has got a crack on it so not going to bother with that!
That's abit of a pain regarding the new cluster for you 👎🏼

Picked my car back up today from the car hood specialists, so happy with the job they've done, They've re-wrapped the material inbetween the inner and outer skin as it wasn't the best and I told them I want it doing properly also sealed the back window frame. Didn't manage to do the drivers seat as they couldn't find any material to match I'm going to have to have a search around see if I can find anything!  B377BA0F-AD28-4976-9DCD-51185B82A123.jpeg A2591E44-9A51-47B8-B106-7AA1373ABC25.jpeg FDCCC98C-F547-44DD-B600-B5B8795FA255.jpeg 9FBC509F-D972-4BBA-9371-CE8B27A2F00D.jpeg

Did you give the roof fitter your cover for the roof when it's down as the 2 loops on the back seem to be in the wrong place, well different to my 1988 cabriolet…

Had a few little chrome bits added, round the grill and the 6 piece waistline trim, I think it makes it looks miles better! Up next if the front vw badge and refurb all the badges around the car are they're looking abit tired.  9220D70A-1378-4DC6-AAB3-9905378D1A62.jpeg 53729344-852A-4B43-B1A2-DD54A704A91A.jpeg

Bought my first mk1 golf

Like the colour so much I bought one
Not changed my roof as it's dry stored.
Mr Kenneth has supplied new waistline trim (yet to fit it )
I drove to Gloucester to see another same colour as on left.
Happy motoring.
Ps was new roof vinyl or canvas.

Really smart the pair of them, I always preferred the tin tops but as soon as I saw mine in this colour the cabbys have really grown on me!
