small/quick restoration

might be no good to you the previous owner was too tight to buy the grill clips so used small self tappers instead
not noticeable really but thought I better let you know
wheels maybe for sale but don't know how much there worth now they've been refurbed??

don't really like the cap it came with and hoe the previous owner secured the petrol fill pipe
the 3 screws screwed into a piece of rubber round the back of the panel

Ah ok, probably give it a miss, want to restore to as original as I can really, ideally wheel wise looking for ra's, maybe g60 steels or possibly snowflakes, something original looking . . . Just if those were going cheap.

Anyway, looks like you crack on pretty quick, good luck with your project  :thumbs:

finally painted the gti spent a few days flatting colour sanding and buffing
hear the results of my labour so far

cheap ebay coilovers fitted its sitting seriously low now
just for the fun of it
got the bonnet and other side the flat and polish
then rebuild time

I have now totally  painted the complete car and its now time to wet sand/flat the complete car
take an age
started with 1500 grit and a soft block as the paint had picked up loads of dust and overspray as the garage is tiny but hey ho its my garage so I managed

ive painted loads of cars
golfs, t2 vans, t4s ect.. and I'm used to having to flat and polish but it is a pain in the jak
anyway plenty of cold clean water and fairly liquid
and 1500 grit for a full day wash off and left to dry over night
to see if the paint was flawless!! :thumbs:  :thumbs:

fresh cod
home made chips and mushy peas

time to change upto 2000 grit same process loads of clean water and elbow

take ages but its worth it
now 2500 grit
then g3 compound with the buffer

hard work has paid off but I recken from body work/filler to primer and top coats I took two solid weeks
never again  :lol:
need to build it back up now couple of days should see it back on road
