Where did you get your zinc plating kit  / what is it called. You have some great results. Do you shotblast each item, then chuck in the fluid for zincing? Looking good

It's from gasteros plating and I bought the power supply separately. It's a bit of a ball ache getting it to plate properly, especially with the yellow passivate… All parts are brought back to bare metal using the sand blasting cabinet and then decreased using a highly alkaline solution then zinc plated.

Cheers. I'll get one of the kits. What power supply is needed? Quality results, hope I can match them!

Well got the shell back from the blasters… Plenty of repair panels to get. Mostly due to the last lad who worked on the car destroying panels with snot welds etc.

Panels needed:
- Front Panel
- Front Apron
- Inner Wing NS/ & O/S
- Front Side Member N/S & O/S
- Battery Tray
- Floor Pan Left/Right
- Inner/ Outer Sill Left Side
- Rear Panel

Unbelievable amount to filler covering large holes that weren't visible before, this was done by the last owner…

Also thinking about deleting the sunroof, and replacing it with a new skin/ cross beam. Has anyone any experience of doing this ??

Anyway, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves! 20170929_142506.jpg 20170929_142650.jpg 20170929_142655.jpg 20170929_142700.jpg 20170929_142704.jpg 20170929_142714.jpg 20170929_142720.jpg 20170929_142724.jpg 20170929_142725.jpg 20170929_142727.jpg 20170929_142734.jpg 20170929_142740.jpg 20170929_142746.jpg 20170929_142752.jpg 20170929_142810.jpg 20170929_142823.jpg 20170929_142828.jpg 20170929_142838.jpg 20170929_142853.jpg 20170929_142922.jpg 20170929_143122.jpg 20170929_143411.jpg

Small progress to report:

Mostly been waiting on panels to arrive.
Replaced since the last post

- inner and outer front wings including chassis legs.
- sills and floor chassis strengthening legs
- front and rear panel
- floor panels left and right

Sunroof has been a major issue. The sunroof tray was rotten so a new one needs to be sourced. Found a mk2 tray in better nick that I'm collecting on Monday.

Ordered all remaining parts needed to build the bbs rs001's. New bolts and dishes.

Also got my hands on some OEM+ KW v1 coilovers.

Fabulous results with your plating!  I have been trying do similar but struggling to get a good even finish with the plating.  I have the same kit from Gastero plating but use a battery charger to provide the power and the simple wire current controller - but the finish varies alot and the wire current controller keeps burning out!!!!  .  Does the variable power supply help do you think?  Any advice greatly appreciated as your results are amazing!

You absolutely need a power supply. I very the current quite a bit which you won't get with a battery and resistor. Cost me £35 which is cheap considering the results. If you sanded and polished the metal before playing you also get a great plate. My advice is get a controller
