Thanks mate. Apart from general restoration of body and engine I'm planning:

rear brake conversion
power steering
adjustable coilovers

…and that's it. I've toyed with the idea of engine swap etc but I keep coming back to the idea of having a solid rebuilt original looking car but with modern handling, so that's the plan.

Not sure coilovers will give modern handling, i had koni coilovers on my mkiv cant stand them, give me a decent lowering set over coilovers any day.

fully adjustable coilovers, damping/height etc, can be set up to give you any level of handling you like. I had a set of KWV3s on my previous project and it transformed the car.

Haha, it's a 2t low profile long reach jack, bought a few years ago but would be without it now. Can jack from front or side of car which can be a bonus

I'm about to purchase a set of KW V2 or V3 coilovers for my GTi.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on the KW V2 versus V3 set up(rebound settings). I'll be running 195/50 /15" BBS wheels

Also a price - as I've been quoted around 2000K! sterling for V3's.

I haven't had a set of V2s to compare against yet mate. Shop around for V3 deals - I paid around that I think for previous project but got a deal that included fitment and full set-up

Good progress this weekend. Drive shafts now out after releasing from hubs, so now ready for engine drop hopefully by the weekend

(Intended to add photos here but despite telling me upload is complete there are no photos in the preview - am I doing something wrong??) Will add once I sort it out.
