I think I'll stick with a bog standard cheaper one, being a formel e car

You're just showing off with your GTI all singing and dancing ones

🤣🤣🤣
But I don't have a gti! 😕

It is over the top and if you can find this set up with all the manuals, wiring diagrams, even a working original lock code it set someone back £700+ nowadays. 😱

Took 3 years to find it searching worldwide. 😉

Dang that has as much information as a PIPER CUB I used to fly… :)Sensory overload.

When my Premium Head unit started to go black on the face, I opted to replace it.
As I am a "Cost effective" read Cheap kind of person with hearing loss from Turbine engines,
All good or Cheap stereos Sound the same to me.

I went to Wally-World (WALMART) and got a 25 dollar am/fm/usb/sd/aux/bluetooth receiver.
It doesn't play CD's or Cassettes, and less than 40 bucks US.'

I always had an issue of my kids leaving a cassette aux input in my Cars, and the cord drove me insane….as they would never eject it so all it did was dangle….

This critter was half the size and 1/3 the weight of the OEM.  To connect it to my existing wiring I used the VW connector kit, but then again I have a 93….

So I can connect my Phone blue tooth and not miss a call, I can IPOD, IPAD Android, IPhone, USD stick SD ram my "Special" music, or I can listen to Classic Rock, or any other station I choose… It is only a few bucks, and I can replace it if it gets stolen, but it is so cheap folks leave it alone….(besides I disabled the locks on the thing so it slides in and out easily for those buggers that want to take it) the connectors make it so I hopefully won't have a ruined Fascia, or cut wires.

my 2 cents.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

£700+ that's nearly enough to buy my car

Brian1234

Wally World - never heard it called that before - its called ASDA over in the U.K. You have to go to an 'extra' to get anything other than food, but we have other stores that do cheap stuff, but nothing that cheap

And yes Hamburg for me - some on eBay I'm watching

I have a hamburg in my 82 C, I also have the iPod lead too, it plugs straight in on a multi-pin arrangement and can be bought via eBay. When I'm with the car next I can send some pictures if you like, I currently have the stereo out as I'm fitted some new wiring/speakers.

Finkle that would be great
Even better if someone hadn't bid on a radio in eBay

I have the Blaupunkt Hamburg in mine too - it doesn't work and is purely for show

Where are you putting the speakers in the back?

The Formel E, for a price obviously, had a single speaker in the hole under the ash tray - a 'special' speaker grill goes over it - I'll see if I can find a pic!

Not sure on the back ones - previous owner had them mounted under the supports for the parcel shelf, but a definitely a bodge job
And that bottom speaker is interesting, that makes sense on an eBay ad. Couldn't work out why they only had one cover!
