  Hi all
Just bought my first Mk1 Golf!
Only taken me 36 years.
Got a 1983 GTI Campaign Mars red.
It's the one from 'Carandclassic' that was in Warwickshire.

Bit of a bargain I think looking at all the receipts that came with it.
I will post photos and

Has a TSR 2.1 engine not big power but great torque.

Look forward to seeing some pictures of your golf, it sounds interesting.

 Hi Matt, thanks.
I live in Warminster so not very far away.
I sometimes work in Devizes so might bring the Golf if its nice weather.
Once I work out how to post i will put some pics up. (Bit of a technophobe I'm afraid!)

Nice looking car. Have you been out in it much? I'll keep an eye out for you 😉! I have a mars red GTI as well but mines on a Y plate and not a campaign model.

Good luck on your maiden voyage in the golf, hope you enjoy it! Be aware that you have probably been spoilt by modern technology so things aren't as refined as a modern car but they are great fun to drive and you'll love it (the crudeness is all part of the fun)!
How did your son find driving it? I take it he drove it back from Warwick.

I have just sold my 1963 Mini Cooper 'S' so know all about crudeness Matt.
My son loved the car and wants it!
He has his own classic a 1980 Talbot Sunbeam TI  which is in concours condition.

Sounds like you and your son have owned some interesting cars! The Talbot Sunbeam certainly sounds like quite a car! Good luck with the Golf.

Good to hear you loved it, they are great cars and excellent fun to drive aren't they!

I certainly wouldn't get bored of hearing about your car history, especially if you've owned cars like Mini Cooper S's and your son owns cars like Sunbeam Ti's!
