Finally got a tin top

Yep bond is probably the best way, a bit of sickaflex or some other polyurethane  based product will do the job, I work in a body shop and have removed the return lip from my arches completely so I intend on doing this procedure myself, plenty of masking tape on the arch to protect the paint then lay the trim on mark and cut the new trim back to line up with the edge of the arch. Remove tape apply bond to the contact areas of the trim, place it on the arch push it into place clamp gently with some cloth in between the grips and the plastic then just wet a cloth with some panel wipe and clean of the excess, easy. Also you have the advantage of a black car so you'll never see the join, awesome car by the way Sooo jealous!
Anyway hope this helped

Thanks that all helps allot.

I'm just worried by bonding the arches on it will create a water trap and create a moisture build up?

Fitted the new steering, I love how it feels…just not sure if it's too modern compared to the Wolfsburg three spoke one more commonly fitted??

Couple of pics for you ..

Lovely car but agree on the steering wheel, not sure if it looks a bit modern and doesn't suit the interior.

I really like the wheel I think it compliments the interior very well, as for the water trap you'll be fine as long as you have bond on all the edges, you won't need much it's pretty strong stuff. Just make sure you wipe off the excess as I say with panel wipe and this will also help to seal the edges.

Its such a nice wheel and its odd how it suited my old Sportline, maybe because thats technially a 90s car, so it works better, duuno? O_o

Ill try it for a few weeks, then try the Wolfsburg 3 spoke one and see how I feel.

I like the size of the Euro Spec Sportline wheel and its OEM

Mate I love it, the tweaks you have done are perfect !

I love those Sportline wheels and think it looks against the red stripe on your dash, know what you mean though with it being 90's . I would be different and run with it, think it looks nice :-)

Perfect!

do your front wheels catch? they look close to the arch.

They don't catch due to the rolled arches.

It might be a different situation once the plastic arches are on. If so I may need to rethink my wheels!

You're not putting plastic arches over that fresh paint are you?!  :o

If the plastic arches are mint you should leave them off and sell them to me!

I think it needs the arches as its a 'GTI' thing and they need to be put back on.

Plus I think it will help with giving the bbs a bit more of a 'tucked up' look.

Hope that makes sense!

They are genuine, I need to clean them up and have a look.

I'm tempted to buy some new ones to match the bodywork.

It does, and I sort of know what you mean, I guess it will match the bumpers. I just wouldn't want to risk ruining the perfect metal and paint that your arches have! If i was you, I'd just opt for the rear spats. I only have the arches on because they've always been there haha.
I see where you're coming from, it will still look good!
