74 Senegalrot Swallowtail - Project G40

Big shame, prefer with round headlights but yeah love the overall shape.

Not done much with this. 

I've upgraded the servo and master to gti spec, also the 256mm Vauxhall brake setup on the polo transferred over nicely, so that was a bit of a bonus!

Ignore the rusty discs, they've been sat a long time!

 

Also removed most of the glass as the rubbers were shot. 

Someone sent me mk2 rear rubbers tho.



Also got these coming for it. 

Ooooo liking the alloys!!    

Cheers man, the wheels should work well fingers crossed. 

I'm blacking out the car and removing the chrome. Some of it is still for sale if anyone wants Chrome… handles, grill trim and badge, window trim.

Not anything in the way of photos tho… I have nearly got the engine out of the polo. 

So I got the engine out of the polo and all the wiring and fuel pumps etc. 



Got a 4 branch for the G40. 





I fitted up my black bumpers too, just to see how they look. 

looks great! I can't imagine that G40 parts are easy to come by….

Looks nice the black bumpers.. I still have my in black too.. but little clean look..

Well the engine is in, I'll mock everything up then rip it all out again to spruce bits up. 

Also fitted my bc coilovers. 

Slow progress…..

It's awesome you decided to keep it! Did you ever settle on another direction over the Impuls (not that they're not worthy, rare beasts…)?

Talking of rare things, I still have the Impuls, still torn on selling them..

The tailgate prop. 

No mine has a normal gas strut. 

I was offered a prop,  but it was too much money

Yeah they mount in the same place. 

So I've not done a lot with this, mounts have new bushes in, 4 branch has now got a lambda port, various gaskets and O-rings have been changed. 
Fitted a rallye throttle cable which looks like it'll do the job, we'll see. 
Engine mount had to be tickled a bit as it fouled the 4 branch. 

Here is a pic of the engine, I was gonna paint and clean stuff….. but I can't be bothered. 

Not done a lot with this.  

Sent the charger for a rebuild, and ordered a 5pk belt conversion with a 70mm pulley from bar-tek in ze Germany.  

Done did the cambelt and water pump.  

My mate needs to modify the 4 branch as it fouls the charger outlet…. brilliant, thanks rubbish eBay company falsely advertising stuff.

Fitted up a bare wheel, so have a pic…. having some tyres fitted asap.
