Wow, there is yellow and there is yellow!  I have seen a few sets of the wheels you have on your car recently, most seem to be gold and white.

Did you do all the work yourself, it looks very tidy.

Yep it's defiantly yellow!
No I'll have to admit now that I brought the car as it stands now, the guy I got it off spent a lot of time and effort on and I just stumbled across it at the right time as I've been looking for a few years for one but work seemed to get in the way!

Yeah the lad I got it off had the car white at one point and the wheels suited white really well!!

Hi Karl

Welcome to the club mate.

This car was a good buy IMO, saw it on ebay last year for a lot more than the seller had it up for this year  ;), and if you did a deal with him, is a bit of a steal.

I had similar engine in my tin top I just sold, link below.

Love the colour of yours, think it works really well.

Personally I think a different set of wheels would make the car look even better, but that's just my opinion, and as with everything it all takes time.

Changing the black to chrome could be a good shout, although I was all black with the bits on my tin top and was nice for it to be a bit different.

If you wana go chrome bumpers, side trims etc, make sure you have a good look here http://www.classic-vw.co.uk/mk1-golf-299-c.asp and if you sign up for membership you would also get discount so save the membership fee straight away  :thumbs:http://www.classic-vw.co.uk/mk1-golf-299-c.asp

Cheers for the advice mate, yeah got the motor for a good deal, the lad who had it was a real genuine guy as well which made the buy even better!

Think I've found the wheels after a long look last night and think now the black trim might be staying, decisions decisions

Not so sure about the 19's or what ever that jacked up beast is running!!
It wasn't until I got the yellow that I realised there were a few more than I thought. But then you could say the same about all cars you buy I guess!!

Welcome to the club Karl.

Yes it's a strong yellow and it reminds me of my Mk1 Escort 2dr I painted back in 1980 which I did Daytona yellow and black.

As for the wheels, not my taste but then when did my taste matter!    ;)

Just enjoy a great car oh and a great club!

Cheers mate! appreciate the welcome!
I'm planning on changing the wheels, think I've found the right ones now (he says)

I'll smash up some pics when I get back from being away with work and think they'll suit the car better!

Really happy with them! Need to sort out a slight rubbing issue on the back and a few more nice bits to get but I've got plenty of time as I'm off out of the country again for a while!

Cheers guys!!
What are your thoughts on the eibach rear camber shims? Only after a bit on the back just for looks (I know about the issue this will cause to tyres)
Any body used them? Or heard of any massive horror stories with them?
