VW Corrado VR6

Post

Not on here much anymore since selling my last 2 mk1's but now doing my thing to a pretty nice Corrado vr6.

4 owner, 93k mile car with full service history and all original.

Only 2 bubbles of rust which I had cut out and sprayed then the car pro detailed.

So far I've had it serviced with all filters and plugs and MOT with no advisories.

Retrimmed steering wheel, new gearknob and gaiter.

New Alpine speakers all round and an Autowatch top spec alarm fitted.

Complete brake overhaul with new everything incl braided hoses, calipers and carriers and discs and pads.

New Bilstein B12 suspension, drop links and balljoints.

Second set of Speedlines bought and refurbed anthracite with diamond cut rims and new Proxes.

Alpine headunit and custom stainless exhaust coming soon.

Cheers folks.

It is a great honest car and I hope to improve it.

I'm looking forward to putting the diamond cut Speedlines on next weekend once my 12mm spacers arrive for the front wheels.

Hi Chris,
Cracking looking car that.
But then I can't remember you ever buying a piece of junk!

The Golf VI TSI, DSG estate I've just bought has the Bilstein P10 suspension fitted all round and I must say I'm very impressed with it so far.
Just haven't had the time or the weather to play with it yet!

Yes I am Chris as it's a bit of a Wolf in Sheep's clothing.
It's got a 1,500 quid full Chrome 'Bastuk' tuned sports exhaust system on it which adds a little to the already 160 bhp lump.
The company in Germany had to specially modify the system for the estate and they even went as far to get EU approval for it, so it's the only Mk 6 estate in the world at the moment with one fitted!

It's fully loaded and even has the flappy paddles.

I only have to issues at the moment, one is to find a really good but affordable set of summer tires and the second is to get the key from my Wife because she's in love with it!

But I'm doing one of these  :offtopic:  :$  :)

I don't know that much about tyres do I will not be able to help and as for your wife and the keys, there is only one winner there……..enjoy watching her drive into the horizon ☺️ but at least you can hear the exhaust as it dissappears 😜

Funny you mentioned the sun because on Friday night my wife came home laughing her head off, so I thought she'd heard a joke or something. (extremely rare in Austria)

She said "oh no, I've just been pulled by a Police car that was behind me."
Or course I said WHAT (thinking of the power, the Tiptronic gearbox, or maybe the Supercharger or Turbo)?  :o

"Oh drove through the traffic light when it was orange (sun)."

So of course I had to ask why?

To which she replied, "well I knew there were they but I didn't think they would bother!"  :banghead:

I mean (stealing you post once again) this car does stick out a little just like my Mk1.

By the way before anyone asks the private number plate cost me (MPJ is my initials) a mere £170 including the plates for 15 years, when I can renew it for half that!

Chris, do you have any good tips for stopping the natural rusting of the brake disk hubs, not the braking surface but the 4 inches of hub that the wheel bolts on to?  :)

I have wire wooled and painted all the disc areas that obviously aren't the braking face 😉

Even the edge of the discs and used high temp engine enamel rather than caliper paint.

I used caliper paint in my GTD and the rust is through already, so when I put the summer 19's back on, I will have to sand them down and repainted them.

The enamel paint you used, was that brushed on or sprayed on?  :)

It's recommended paint to me by someone who has used it for years.

It's brush applied and the company is called Craftmaster Paints.
