Took a bit longer than planned as the cylinder head was sent away to be reconditioned as tappets were a bit noisy and valve stem seals were not their best. Also the seats were sent away to be recovered in original fabric, was done by Bielawskis trimmers in sheffield who did a grand job for the price of £80 per seat but I did pay for material on top from vw heritage and summat stupid like £45 a meter (Still traumatised)
So for £80 what did they agree to do by way of works for each seat please?
Ive been quoted £400 to re trim bolsters only, fix the foam, seat backs and re cable the tilt mechanism, again same as you, `im supplying the cloth.
Car looks superb, love it…. great find and nice work!!!

When it chucks it down I get water in the footwells, I am no expert but I think its the sunroof drain tubes. If anyone can help me with where they exit the car would be helpful
Started a small oil leak and looks like it's coming from behind the gearbox
I did intend to take engine out eventually as the bulkhead where the clutch cable goes through aint too clever and has a plate over it. I think engine out and respray the engine bay before it goes back in
I think gearbox wants looking at as it sometimes jumps out of 5th (oil level correct)
Other than that it always starts first turn of the key and has been very reliable
My dad says to put thicker gear oil in and a leak stop in the engine oil, but I feel like it deserves to be done right
Here is how Phyllis looks today

Where did you get the export sticker from and how accurate is it to an original.? I have an early GTI that came from the Baker Street office and am trying to find more info on the office.
