Story of the past 4 years so far and my plans

So tonight I've got a start on the loom this is the bit I'm dreading as I'm doing it for the 1st time so I'm a bit dence aha so started like this  20151214_201501.jpg and after 3 hour I ended up with this  20151215_181713.jpg I've stripped out the lighting loom and a lot of thins that wont be needed (fan motor charcoal canister battery terminals so just left with the basics as per rubjonnys guide on here (which is brilliant!!!!!) So I'm now at the stage of adding the mk1 loom in I'm going to strip that down next but it's already been played with which is a worry

So tonights progress slowed striped the mk1 loom down and was left with this  20151217_174936.jpg I'm Unsure What go's Were On This Loom As It's Not Labled Or Did I Remove Remove It From The Car So This Was Then Put To One Side The Mk3 Loom Then Was Pulled Back Out AnD I Wrote Out A List For Were The Fusebox End Wires Go  20151217_175101.jpg And The Labled Them  20151217_175113.jpg With Only 2 Wires That are Not Labled There For The Immobiliser So That Loom Now Looks Like This Now  20151217_175109.jpg So All In All Getting There Just A Lot Of unkown Parts If enyone Has info On What I Can Remove from The Mk1 White (D) socket that I could have would be brilliant! Relays will be what I take next so that will be different

Upgrade time so I've finally got all the bits for the upgrade 280mm discs from a corrado g60 break lines from a lupo with filed down locateing tabs vectra b srI calipers and carriers also did the wheel bearings while I was there so some pictures 20171002_093907.jpg would have been easer on a ramp but a jack will do 1st up was to remove the old gear 20171002_093919.jpg the old setup was rubbish pads were smaller than most motorbikes these days haha 20171002_100511.jpg how much of an improvement over the old stuff :) 20171002_141022.jpg all fitted up always check your wheels fit before you fit it all properly you don't want to be stuck high and dry with no wheels 20171002_095954.jpg finally all fitted repeated on the other side wheel bearings were a bit of mischief primarily because I removed the complete strut not just the hub I did this to save having to re setup my camber it's a lot easier with the 10 ton press we have in work next up will be servo upgrade looking at using a mk3 9" with a mk1 focus stubby master cylinder hopefully get some good gains with this setup next update soon :p

So update time I've been doing a lot of parts gathering at the moment a lot of this is on a budget so I'm doing a lot of cross overs of parts so I've got myself a mk3 golf servo and also a mk1 focus master cylinder 20180123_164405.jpg I've had to file down the rod in the end of the servo as it would have caused hydrolic bind I'm also going to have to modify the shaft going to the pedal as this is a ball and socket style fit rather than a thread I've also finally got hold of a set of bike carbs gsxr 600 srad 20180123_164332.jpg chosen as I see them in a loft of abf kits and also started building the manifold 20180123_164759.jpg 20180123_164327.jpg I've gone for mild steel as it's a lot cheaper and it's not like anyone will no once it's painted and on the car haha ive also sorted out the ignition I want to use I'm going to be using a ford esc as It will give me coil pack and will be in line with a change to mega squirt later of with an external crank trigger ect that's all for now update again soon

D day been dreading this and relishing it in equal portions I've got my parts list together I feel like I have everything I'm gonna need (there's always something missing) so here go's IMG_20180610_102552.jpg day started with a shuffle around in the garage pulled the abf out and gave it's final check over as it's all been torn down re gasketed and cleaned to a reasonable standard redy to go it with it out the garage I began stripping the 1.6d IMG_20180610_102559.jpg she's been a reliable beast with this engine but it's just not the heart the car deserves IMG_20180610_120654.jpg IMG_20180610_120701.jpg
All the work in my garage has been done on the floor as I currently don't have a engine crane to life it out it all came out the bottom
IMG_20180610_133219.jpg
Engine removed IMG_20180610_135436.jpg
I noted that the 1.6 definitely seems heavier than the 2.0 lump I did however have one slight issue the engine mounts on the 1.6 is a different design to the GTi mount I had purchased I was planning on renewal of the bush in the GTi mount and using the 1.6 mount temporarily but none the less work continued IMG_20180610_144014.jpg engine removed I'm going to have a basic clean up round the bay I'm not going for show car standards here just a clean install and to get her running well followed buy a complete overhaul over the winter that's all I have for now more updates as I get work done thanks again all

So been a while since I've been down the workshop spent a couple of nights working on the loom just Finnising labeling and makeing sure I have all the relevant parts IMG_20180701_225731.jpg
The rubbers for the carbs turned up Redy to fit but I'm having second thoughts although the carb engine is gonna be a hell of a lot of fun would the engine be better off on the Digi? For future modification IMG_20180616_173542.jpg it does look absolutely awesome though haha engine mounts on its way as well as a bush for it more progress soon any advice on the hole carbs Vs Digi would be great as I'm really torn on the subject
Thanks Dan

So massive progress on Friday finally got the engine crane round  from a friend's 1st up was to sort the engine mount sprayed up and bush inserted IMG_20180803_093215.jpg
All sprayed up it was fitted to the engine
So been in to minds with regards to fueling the engine I had collected most parts up to run it on Digi but with my current time frame to get the car completed I decided to go down the route of carbs witch I also have prepared to go IMG_20180803_104635.jpg so with the engine out it was a simple case of dropping the new one in found the mount took a bit of fettling to get it to sit right also at the moment the alternator tensioner is out of line with the bottom water pump pulley I will have to look at this shortly IMG_20180803_110916.jpg IMG_20180803_174321.jpg so all in now there's still lots to do gearbox needs to come back out as Ive ordered an uprated clutch kit  left to Do still lots got a couple of coolant lines to secure and one to replace do people use the the abf hard line ? Or the MK1 for the heater returns. throttle cable I'm going to run a MTB break cable this will also help with firewall fixing as at the moment its beginning to cut the firewall also will use one of these for the choke cable anybody got get and needle settings for srad carbs on a abf they would be a massive help thanks again all more updates Friday
