Beautiful mk1 Hugh. That spare wheel has come up a treat - shame its going to be hidden in the boot. Do you have the original tool kit to go with it ?
Thanks Dave - truth be known I have the sportlines tool kit in the boot of the tintop.
I will be on the look out at the autojumblers in Uttoxeter.

so the ultimate question is hugh which one is coming to the AG?
JB - Good question - The sportline is booked on the boat since mid January, however boot capacity is limited as you know.
I am heading for a 160 mile spin out today in the tintop to give it a good run… so watch this space - could be a last minute decision.

what a dilemma though, sportline for the cabby down enjoyment and sportline photo at AGM, or tintop as you can fit more stock in ….

It was a blast all 480 mile of it. We had some great mk1 folk present and thanks to all who came.
Couple of pics of the GTI from the weekend.
I have changed the blowing manifold to a 4 branch and fitted a longlife stainless exhaust system - has a nice purr now!
More pics of it next week.

My old sportline radio a pioneer is now in the tintop. Sounds pretty good.
Taxed for 12 months - all of €56 for vintage road tax (anything over 30 years)
Manifold wrapped and matched to a longlife stainless exhaust system….. now in the car
Glad the blow from the engine is now gone and the purr and sound is just right!

Sounds is pretty good. Not too boy racerish but enough of a growl when its needed.
Some pics taken by the fitters - SP Heat Tranfer.
Tight fit and plate/heat shield made to separate the steering rack boot.
I have bought a new fuel tank and filler neck so will change both and might shultz and seal the underbody again. Think it needs it.

Lookin good sir ,what was heat sdhield like have you a pic
I don't have a pic of the plate itself as the garage put it on. But the steering rack boot is wrapped in heat protective foil. The plate is U bolted onto the downpipe and it too is wrapped in heat foil.
Both are very close but no major issues so far. I carried around the fire extinguisher with me for a few weeks lol
