Mk1 style crimes - list 'em here...

I think if anybody who wasnt into modified Mk1's were to take a ride in Lhasadreams modified they would sharp change their mind!

Its like hot S**t off a shiny shovel….

I love people who hack their cars up whether it looks good or not i don't care.
Simply because they are getting rarer and rarer and  mine which is staying standard becomes worth more and more.
I know its a bit selfish but hey.

Where you having it re-trimmed?  Have a look at my post regarding re-trimming, there were a few very good recommendations.
Yes my Gti was the one that was up or good money but its straight, well looked after and most of all black with no sunroof which was exactly what i was looking for.

I am after a black series 1 Gti now with low miles to make exceptionaly nice so if you do here of any do let me know wont you…

A company near me called B trim in enfield are doing the job. They do some great re trims.
I looked at the post you put up did you get yours done in the end

Haha! Your views are noted. Although I would point out that the wheels unbolt in minutes, and the rest of the car is standard. 
Wheels and stance are generally considered to improve the street cred, and are fully reversible. 

Omg.. Stretch tyres are about as silly as it gets.

modifications are personal taste, providing they are right in the eyes of the owner then its all good.

but things that would put me off buying a mk1 would be,   smoothed in swage lines (you have no idea how much i hate this)  and even though most of the trailer queens have this done i really hate mk1's that have the rain tray cut out too, wouldnt ever buy a mk1 with that done either.

Haha. I have done most of the things in this thread. Smooth bay, no rain tray, Porsche wheels. Personally I like a smooth bay just as much as a tidy standard bay but a smooth one is easier to clean. That is one of the main reasons I did it. The rain tray did nothing but get clogged up and leak into my car. I kept the heater though. the Porsche wheels are needed to clear the brakes and they are also very easy to clean.


Things I don't like are too much poke and badtyre fitment, Lexus/clear rear lights, miss matched colourcoding and halfords style wheels.

Benandemu, you'd like it in France, where you have to get government approval to modify your car (don't quote me on this).

Use your redundant wheels and door handles to make your Porsche mobile again! ……..

Now that gives me an image of a Porsche meet with a load of Porsches sporting golf door handles and 155 r 13 steelies  

Personally, I think there is nothing worse than a bog standard mk1, they are crying out to be modded and also those who say standard all the way but have thier car lowered on aftermarket rims, hmmmm. Still, each to their own
