So we need to build a track car ..one that will work to represent the the business and be a bit of a classic .. so a Golf MK1 with a 1.8T and why not make it Berg cup style.. so the old MK1 that stood alone in a garden for some years waiting for some love was purchased last week and so it begins ..

Berg Cup arches arrived today from HR Engineering

Front end coming off ready for a new modified one.

Cracking start mate, how long do you think the builds going to take? What kind of power are you hoping to get from the 1.8t? Any ideas on a colour scheme or is it too early for all that yet!?

Modified front end eh, how modified is modified then? C'mon give us a clue! :mrgreen:

Do you plan on racing it or just for show as i did'nt think carbon roofs complied with fia/msa standards etc

It's going to be a full track car build. Probably not entering

might be a silly question but are you not meant to leave the roof cross brace's in when you fit the carbon roof skin?

The golf has been fully stripped, and all non essential metal work has been cut out.

The golf has gone to be dipped, full photos when it gets back. Cant wait to see what it looks like naked

Dipping this week


The Golf is now back from being stripped and to describe how it looks in one word "amazing".




When it left us just over 2 weeks ago we weren't sure what to expect when it came back. Was there going to be more holes than metal, would we have to start all over again. The answer is no, the shell is in great condition for its age few issues but nothing an order from VW Heritage wont sort out.




Bit of rust in the back panel, was easier to remove it and replace with an OEM unit





 

Looks like a start of a crackin build coming along ,i will be watching over this one
