A mk1 gti k-jet pump with a fuel pressure regulator should supply enough pressure I think

no need for a pressure reg, the vr6 has one on the fuel rail. but yeah mk1 gti pump is what you want

try the mk3 lines, might work ok! if not decent rubber lines rated for fuel injection should do, try to get braided as they have a bit of extra protection from stones or whatever

have a look at my mk1 cabrio 16v build thread, there are some good pics of how/where the mk1 pump is mounted. you need the tray and the foam insert for it, then the pump pushes inside. crazyquiff does the bracket

yah try to get bosch pump if you can but pattern ones should be ok i suppose. k-jet run at least 5 bar plus loads of flow so can easily handle a vr6 or booooost

right. if you want to make use of the factory fuel pump relay socket, first you need to run the ecu fuel pump trigger wire to D/13, this will allow the ecu to control the fuel pump relay (goes to G1/3 on CE2 fusebox)
then you will need to run the fuel pump power pin either to E/14, or the large spade N. e/14 is fused, you need the large size round pin to fit into it, you can buy them or just raid a spare wiring loom. spade N isnt fused so make sure you fit an inline fuse is you use that.
then you use a fuel pump relay 67, 80 or 167

Mmm…ill give it a go! Lol!
So just to confirm…one line from tank in to feul pump and then to the motor and one return in to the tank,or is there anything else to it?

forgot to ask, what fuel tank do you have?
wiring sounds complicated i know sorry E/14 isnt so bad as its the only large pin in the plug, you cant miss it. plug e is the black one in the middle (see fusebox sticky)
D/13 you need a small round pin again nick it from a spare loom or crimp on a fresh one. the pin numbers are stamped into the front of the plugs too to make it easier to find them

Thanks mate, im sure Ill get there!
Its the standard mk1 gti fuel tank, not changing that. But do I do away with the accumulator? Also the pump has a "screw in" outlet tip so I presume I'm going to have to get the appropriate pipe for this connection and then run it to the front?

ah ok cool. yes just the main feed L pipe from tank to pump, crazyquiff does them if you need one. accumulator is no longer needed so can be removed, but no problem leaving it on there if it saves you some effort with the fuel lines.
you need something like this to convert the pump to push fit fuel hose if you get rid of the acummulator:
