Some new wheels, abit early for wheels but saw them and bought them lol started on the inlet manifold last night and have nodiz management turning up today so want to try get engine up and running in few weeks check all ok before removing to do some more work on bay. Managed to get an 8v alternator and bracket so that's that sorted.

Abit of milling and got the rough shape so can tweak to fit. And started the water flange as original plastic one will be in the way with carbs.

tonight have bought a set of ZX9R bike carbs for it and just trying to still get my head around this advance timing thing???? vacum dizzys, running ecu? ideal i would like carbs bolted on with no vacum pipes as little cables and pipes as poss! i have heard that you need to have advance timing some how to get full rpm range running.
with bike carbs ways to get advance timing are either.
1.run ecu
2.vacume dizzy
3.weighted dizzy??
if vacum dizzy used whats it off how to fit??
really do want to avoid electrics and ecu's where possible.
" i have heard that you need to have advance timing some how to get full rpm range running." you need to advance timing but this doe not have to be done via vacuum it can be done via engine rpms.
You need to know what vacuum does to make a choice. you will need a vacuum source to feed distributor/ecu with a signal and your servo to even work
When you have one carb or a gti like plenum all 4 cylinders are drawing at one chamber and a high vacuum signal can be found.
Also know that highest vacuum is a low load part throttle/off throttle , at wide open throttle (acceleration) vacuum is 0.
So with bike carbs you, each inlet sepperated, so your only get 1/4 vacuum if you get signal from one carb inlet, you would have to tap all 4 inlets and and T them together (unless they are connected by a balance pipe.)
Long story short a vacuum signal shows the engine when it on light load/cruise, so you can run the fuel air ratio lean (which needs igniting earlier in the cycle) hence more advance.
basically I would just run a centrifugal only advance distributor, idle advance about 10/12 degrees and total at 2800/3000 at 28/32 degrees. once you go bike carbs your not think econemy cruise.
I would be more worried about getting adequate vacuum to run your servo.

pedal box will sort lack of servo and bad rhd brakes.
just need a distributor of the right spec now
these guys might have something to cover your distributor, or you can use your OG distributor with the vac plug up, but will have to get someone to custom curve the mechanical advance via the spring and bob weights.
