Ok didn't manage to get it tested Monday so whilst I wait for it to go back in next Monday I decided to do a quick fix on my horrendous "racing" mirrors, they are going back to a set of vw flag mirrors when it's at the Paintshop, but found an old Summit wing mirror kicking around in the attic from about 10 years ago (oddly, brand new still in its box) and thought I'd see if I could swap it over. Luckily I managed to fix it using the existing hole used for the stupid mirrors!!
I call it the MOT mirror mod!
BEFORE (from passenger side)
AFTER (replacement driver mirror)
I am aware of how shiite it still looks but it's so much better than the old one and will do until it hits the body shop…

Haha tell me about it, it was a lesser of two evils I'm affrad! Had I had time I would have refitted the flag mirrors myself but as its going to the Paintshop I may as well get them to do it…

Got fed up of looking at the different colored front wings so whilst I await the pro's at the bodyshop, I decided to give them a spruce up.
In primer
1st coat of paint, will need a sand down and final coat to get a nice shiny finish on it but getting there..

New genuine wing painted and fitted
Finished painting the wing and fitted it to the car, it's by no means perfect but will do until the "real painters" get their hands on it

Just a little update:
Took the golf to it's 1st show in Northampton for Edition 38 and loved every minute of driving it.
Only had one slight issue, where she cut out about 5 minutes after saying to my mates "shes never missed a beat this car"
Check out the awesome bonnet prop!
There was no spark at the plugs but the main HT lead had a spark, took the dizzy cap off and the mechanical limiter had melted and stuck on. Pulled the limiting but out and got home ok.
After fitting a new rotor arm I also managed to get to the regional MK meet which was good fun.
Today I have picked up a few spares ready for the bodyshop (it will happen, Honest)
A genuine front panel which is in very good condition
And another genuine one which is not so good but could definitely be used to help repair the one that's on the car so I don't have to remove the whole panel.. gives me 2 options really! The guys who will be doing the work used to to specialise in extending rolls royces and making them into Limo's so this will be a nothing job for them!

Took the car the paintshop today so I could get the final say on the car.
They are going to replace the front panel, repair the rear arches, repair the rear panel and repaint the car.
They are going to have it for 4 weeks and its going to be a no expense spared job… and I can't wait
Stripped it down:
And now it's all ready for the paintshop (apart from the dash, which I'll take out after I get there!)

What colour you going for?
Are you putting the bbs kit back on?

Probably going to leave it the same colour as the inside has all been sprayed and inside the engine bay so it seems the logical thing to do.
They have said they can do it but it's weather or not I think it'll be worth it really. Not sure what colour I'd go for if I decided to change.
Bbs kit is staying off for now, as that was what trapped the water and dirt last time and caused the issues on the rear arches, albeit minor issue.
Also if anyone has a windscreen they are getting rid of I seem to be in the market for one :s

I like it with the kit but you need wide wheels to pull it off and the bbs kit is something different.
Is yours a standard colour? This is my s1 cabby

The colour is an old Rover/MG colour called Pagent blue, you see it on Mini's and MGB's
I must admit that I do love the look of the BBS Kit. Looks awesome on your cabby.
I think if I do decide to put it back on it will be put back on after the paintwork is done and will not be bonded like before, I'll definitely be using the rubber too so it looks a little more original. It means I can also take it off and keep the bodywork underneath in check every so often.
It's still a something I'm yet to decide but I have 2 kits sat in the garage just encase.
