My Oak Green Mk1......

I've had this sat in my garage for a few years doing nothing, so thought I'd drag it out and run it for a bit. Apart from a few advisories, it flew its MOT yesterday  :D

After a good hot jet wash, it looks like this -

I've got to change the doors, sunroof and boot lid as they're shot, so it'll be Oak green and Hellios blue for a while but at least I can have some fun in it again……….

It was bought and spec'd in Germany. I'm only the third owner, the second owner only had it about six months

When I bought it, I drove it for about six months and the exhaust fell off, I parked it in the garage to fix next chance I had but life and too many other V-Dubs got in the way, so it just sat there……..

It drives great, so much nice than the wifes cab GTI

I've been fiddling with it today - I've changed the bent bumper and lower spoiler and also fitted a single headlight grill. Swapped the rusty old sunroof for one of my scrapper and also fitted the A post trims…..

Before -

After -

I need to change the exhaust down pipe as it's blowing a bit and then I'll put it back on the road and do the other odds and sods as I go along……….

I've done a bit of tinkering on the old girl today  :D

I've fitted a 4 branch (cheers Ans4r ;) ) and also fitted a larger throttle body from a Mk2 with a ported out manifold and a K&N filter. I need to get some flexi exhaust pipe as the 4 branch doesn't reach the middle box but hopefully I can source some tomorrow  :D

The beast is back on the road at last and hopefully I'll give it a good run to Cornwall next week…….

Anyway, here's some pics of it all cleaned up……..

I've got to change the scabby doors and sort the bottom of the wings out but apart from that, it's all good  :D

The car is now sat back in the garage awaiting full restoration……

I used it for a while then a CV joint exploded and it snapped a spring, so I wrapped it back up in blankets to collect some parts. I've picked up a 1.9 TSR engine, adjustable suspension, big disks and a Mk2 servo. Once I finish the '68 Baywindow that I've been restoring forever, I'll make a start in this again…..

Thanks for the interest guys :)

Hi fella, if ever you sell this let me know :-)

I've been tempted to sell it a few times as I don't really have a use for it but I know if I did sell it, I'd be sorry……

I suppose if I'm offered the right amount, I'd let it go…..

An unusual car with lots of history, what a find?!  Definitely think you should get it back on the road!
