thought i'd share these pics from the UAE.
the cabby is a jap import
still workin out the quirks, stuff like AC, brakes, suspension, etc.

still waiting for the new top before painting.

yep yep it's the warm season now reaching up to 48 degrees
really hot and still getting worse

Welcome abord mate. I was in Dubai for a few years. I was looking to Buy a Cabby from a chap who advertised his on Souq.Jap import & he wanted stacks of cash.

Be very careful of the Garages you go too.
There is also a VW Audi forum dont know if your a member there already ?

i try to do as much of the wrenching myself except for the aircondition system  :dontknow:
and now waiting for the new top and fit it myself

exactly dude
saw one in SOUQ.COM going for 14,000 AED

we were actually looking for a tintop
the shop was selling this for 10,000
we got it for half of that  

now i'm looking around for a good shop to get it painted

Are tin top ones there in Dubai.
If so plz send me the link mate.

I know a good mechanic In the Cars workshop in Deira.

sorry bout tintops man. been looking for one since 2005 when i first got here, no luck.
there's heaps of mk2's and up though.

actually there's not much problem with the car besides a new paintjob. the engine runs great.
but if you still have the mechanic's number, it'll be great to have it just in case.

I dont have his no but his name is Faisal in the Cars Garage in Deira.
Give him a ref of a Blue M4 TDI Golf. He did loads of work on my car and he is a honest chap.

Most mechanics say they have replaced parts but they havent. I can name a couple.

If you come across a Tin top one let me know. Also if you want a Mk4 Golf TDi 2002 model let me know. Drop me a Pm
