For a long time since it died i lost my enthusiasm, but now i am fully motivated again but more limited by finances. The engine dropped a bearing upon inspection and i gave up on the block and found a low mileage 9A bottom end which is on a stand ready for new rings and bearings. The head has been stripped, the valves were so heavily coated in carbon it was insane and i've had a lot on to get the head in reasonable nick. I have polished the exhaust ports and had it on a flow bench where it actually flowed quite well but i might port the inlets to maximise the match with the manifold for my Webers. Recently i discovered my manifold is a TSR performance manifold which i was quite pleased about.
Other than that it's been stored at my mam's house growing mould so i gave her a clean and hope to have the engine in and running this summer, will probably go megasquirt when i've got some cash as i want mappable ignition and would like to go bike ITBs in the future. I'm going to change the rear lights, can't stand the half clears. Here's some pics:

Not sure where i should go from there, might just have to leave the rust on the other side and just heat gun the plastic.

Can finally get rid of those clear abominations, thought about full red tinting them but some people have failed MOTs for it so I'll see.

My main aim from here on out it to get rid of the rust and get it to a stage where it can be painted, I have kind of started the engine work but i'll cover that later on.
First off I finally got the car transported to my house:
Here we have some problem areas…
More than enough to keep me going here, created the hole at the rear today and wire brushed that sunroof recess and there is a minor hole but luckily this is not too far gone and I can save it. So I have some cutting and welding ahead of me but I i'm not going to stress too much and just enjoy the process.

Water was sat under the seal here and you could smell it was stagnant, must have been there for over a year because it was under a tarp for at least that long. Oh well.
I noticed a while back this crease on my bonnet, I can only assume it's happened when the car has been pushed. No idea how I can fix that to be honest without a load of filler which I would rather not do. Might try and find a nice straight bonnet.
Another question I have is should the driver have the vent trims in here?
I'll keep doing little bits and practicising welding, next good solid nice warm weekend i'll start cutting all this rust out that I can see for now. Eventually I plan to get it up on axle stands nice and high so I can get underneath, will probably drop the rear beam and freshen it up
