New wheels-new problems!

Post

Hi,
Hoping someone can help me with this problem!

Just bought a new set of wheels 15x8 et10 and the front wheels are fouling on the brake calliper carriers. I've already had the arches pulled so there are no lips to catch on and the car is on coilovers so the wheels aren't fouling on anything else.

The car is a 1987 Cabby Gti with VWII 239x20mm brakes. Am I correct in thinking that an early set of calliper carriers will fit? Basically the wrap around hoop on the standard brakes is what's causing the problem but I really don't want to run spacers or grind the original brakes down.

Also, if anyone can recommend a good tyre size that would help a lot! Don't want silly stretch so was thinking a 185/45/15 tyre would be ok?

Thanks for any help!

That's ok! I know it's a controversial topic having wide wheels!

I had the same problem on my Caddy when I swapped the OZs for the Retrostars and a set of non-hooped carriers sorted it.
