Mk2 GTI steering wheel fit late Cab ?

Post

Splines the same fitting

Will a mk2 GTI four button wheel which is off an. 87' fit my 92' Cab. I have the standard late mk2 wheel on mine.
In previous golfs mk2 GTI's that I possessed I recall upgrading the old wheels for the later type let's say from my 86' C reg (back in the day early 90's) to an 89'/90' type wheel.
I've just been thrown when looking at eBay and saw similar wheels to my current wheel on my cabby advertised as Golf 92' 16v bigger splined wheels and it made me think mines a 92' cabby and I started to think did they change the wheel spline/columns ??? Will I be up the creek because I've already ordered an old style wheel £30 inc p&p, cos I'm craving the  nostalgic retro Tin top feel ???
Am I jumping the gun by posing the question and is there nothing to worry about  lol !!

I think you should be ok Aaron.

One swap I did recently was late cabby for late MK2 Golf wheel. (The one with the diagonal stripes on the centre horn push.)

The wheels swapped ok but I noticed the centre horn push part is a slightly different size on the two wheels so it just meant you had to swap the wheel as a whole, rather than keeping your horn push if the original was tidier. (Hope that makes sense?!) lol

4-button I'm pretty sure is same splines, but sounds like you're committed now so will find out shortly!

Pre 88 mk2 is small spline, later is big spline. Mk 1 is small spline but late cabbies have spline adaptor to fit big spline, so either size can be fitted by removing/ adding spline adaptor.
