Zoicks!

Well at least you'll either be in tip top condition when you're done or broken.

I'm hoping its the former!

Got home from work yesterday and was mortified to find this :( The weather has been horrible :'( IMG_20181012_160439837.jpg IMG_20181012_160445898.jpg IMG_20181012_160514057.jpg

So I tried to clear what I could and then this happened :o IMG_20181012_172715515.jpg IMG_20181012_172722911.jpg

So this morning a crew of 5 drained the trench, dug out the collapsed material, reinforced the banks which were looking dodgy and filled with concrete :).
We took out 4 bulk bags worth of mud and 10 woven bags! crazy!

We now have:

And covered it up for good measure to stop direct raining from disturbing the bank

This seems to be a conversation between Ian borednow and I .

I guess digging isn't very interesting, but starting to come out of the ground now.

Got home to more problems last night :( IMG_20181014_182438676.jpg IMG_20181014_182446175.jpg

But today mum and dad have played a blinder. Whilst I've been at work they have got this done:

and all covered up from yet more rain :'( IMG_20181015_172247352.jpg

This weekend the level needs to be taken down ever so slightly and back fill the back of the wall.

Sat 3rd November load and compact material with a compactor plate. 22nd November steel mesh arrives for concrete floor. 24th concrete goes in :)

Got a few days off towards the end of November to knock the walls up :)

Hopefully water tight by Christmas I hope

MOT sub base in and compacted :D, proper firm. easily have 5" of room for reinforced concrete to match the existing floor level of the garage.

Folks are on holiday now but have materials arriving for the concrete and walls this week. Week commencing the 19th November we will have the visqueen and steel mesh in and preparing for the concrete to go in that weekend.  IMG_20181103_102112667.jpg IMG_20181103_102125500.jpg

Looks like you a solid job there fella. Are you a builder by trade as you look like you know what you are doing.
I'd like a second garage, but other being able to wield a spade (and a spanner of course) I'm not sure I'd know where to start!
Keep it up!

My rebuild thread I will try and keep up to date: here

Cheers chap, no I'm just a keen DIYer. I have friends and family who are in the trade or very knowledgeable about building which has helped out a load in the past.

I'm basically the labourer :D

Should have the slab down this week :D

Back on it today.

Prepped everything for laying the concrete on Saturday, I'm hoping the weather improves from the forecast!

Bought a window and door, lintels arrive Monday. Should have everything now bar the roof :lol:obligatory pics :D IMG_20181122_143334455.jpg IMG_20181122_143438944.jpg IMG_20181122_143442182_HDR.jpg IMG_20181122_143500512.jpg IMG_20181122_143507960.jpg IMG_20181122_143514480.jpg IMG_20181122_143527637.jpg

You just now need the local cat to walk across the slab and leave it's paw prints across it and it's complete.
