well been playing around again this weekend with this,

the previous stuff was straight from the blaster, after talking to chrissy at UD he gave me some good tips

so after blasting you need to polish the surface up, i've done it with a bit of wire wool, just to take the matt finish off

the different in result was amazing

very gold, and nice and shiny

the parts that i had previously done got re blasted then polished

all in all very pleased with the finish of this now

Yeah you do they are fairly easy to do compared to the fuel lines as the metal braided part of the fuel line needs to be masked with duck tape to stop it from being plated too.

This is proper good! Whenever I do any blasting I always end up covered in it and spend the next 3 weeks finding it everywhere.

I'm going to try and buld myself something after seeing this. Cheers JB

Have you any info on the plating at all?

so the work has begun

so tonight,

i've gaffa taped some clear asitate to the inside and outside of the lide, this is to help maintian the clearish finish as blasting will frost the perspexs very fast

then i got some p shap draft excluder to try to create a seal around the join between box and lid

also added the left over ribbon LED from the diorama around the lid

all lite up, should help me see in there :)

also alot of parts turned up today but i shall update once they start being fitted :)

Have made a similar cabinet and the best tip I got was to put 10 layers of catering cling film over the window BEFORE it gets used (even once!) as one layer clouds over rip it off for clear view. Don't forget to put more layers on before you contaminate the window material. Still working 12 years after build.

2 tintops.
3 cabbies, 1 with G60 power, just for fun.
Volvo T5, just for fun.
3.1Ltr V6 Dutton Leggera, just for fun.
Renault 5 GT Turbo, just a money pit!
Several boring cars, just no fun!

been slowly doing bits on this small project

finally a machine mart vat free day came up, so i went and got the compressor that would A: Fit and B: Do what i need it to do :)

a clarke SE16C100 100 litre tank and 14 CFM belt drive so not to loud and just right for my blasting and airtools

in its new home

so after wondering why my plated parts were dull i had a chat with chrissy and thought a bit more

i decided to get rid of the old tank and make a new on up

the results were amazing, the shine was amazing and just what it should be. so i've been busy

next up more plating and a powdercoating machine in the next month or 2 :)
