Matt I reckon you must live in your real shred and your house is now your shed, you've got so much gear in it!

Nice work, great little set-up you have there. Good price on that extraction fan too ;) We did have some rigid ducting kicking about you could have had but that's gone now - only got a couple of duct clamps left now!

Just read this thread from the start, inspirational !!, no jelly you're not that strange, I know exactly what you mean about rather building something yourself and getting the results you want than getting someone else to do it, you must get a fair amount of spare time though to cary it out, must say the results are outstanding and as good if not better than taking parts to specialists, keep up the good work and look forward to seeing any project updates , I need a shed !!!!!!!!!!!

I'm still planning to make a cabinet. I have a cylinder blaster with a vacuum on and want to connect this to a cabinet.

Just thinking of size, I was thinking of 60cm (about 48mm inside) Is this too small?

Just want it big enough to handle most things, including the odd wheel.

Ill do the biiger bits outside with the vaccum on.

Is 48mm inside too small?

I've done a drawing in sketchup, and made it a bit bigger.

I can make this out of 2 panels of 9mm ply (or 12)

It's all marine grade around here, so no bother really with the weather.

What do you reckon?

If you want the sketchup link, Ill send it, as I haven't shared it yet, it need some fettling first!

Forgot to say, I'm 6'4", or at least I was, so the heights etc have been optimized for my gangly arms.

Which gloves are best ? 7"?

That looks the part!

I have 7" gloves on 5 inch holes so they are shorten but works fine for me

Does the under side have a hooper on it for grit recovery?

Yes…

I already have one of these:

So, I'm just going to connect the vacuum to the hopper, and extend the hopper hose to the top side, so it will suck the dust out as well (hopefully) although the vacuum is'nt working at the moment. Don't think it's much, as it's not that old.

Probably put a couple of 'shut off' valves (from a swimming pool - theres a few around here) so I can regulate the air suction from top to bottom.

Then put a connector to the side of the cabinet for the hose , like yours.

Then I can use it as a stand alone blaster for BIG stuff, or connected to the cabinet for the general stuff.

And, obviously I need to chuck a lamp in there…

Wheres the best place for gloves etc? the 'bay'?

I don't want to hi-jack JB's thread here, which units do you mean? The Cabinet or the Blaster itself?

I'm in Spain, so it wouldn't be cost effective to make them and ship them over, and at the moment I'm tied up doing other stuff, however, I can do a seperate topic later on, IF I get time, with the link to the plans and a pdf with the cutting plans as well, with possibly a video  and instructions on how to make one yourself.

Also, the plans may need to be modified after I've built mine, with any mods, and also, it's made custom for my height, in theory just need to reduce the size of a couple of panels though…

You can get plans online, but, IMHO, there expensive for what they are, it's the sought of thing that should be free.

I've got a pre made cabinet and think there is only enough room for small objects.

Thinking of adding a section in below the gloves and and lowering the blasting shelf. At least so I can easily fit a wheel in and actually have room for my hands.

Also some cabinets have a hole/funnel in middle down to a collection pot for the grit/media
