Nice little shed JB. Every man should have to escape to from the wife

"Nice little shed JB."
If that lot goes up he'll not only escape his (very understanding Wife) but he'll escape the plant faster than the Space Shuttle and it will take a 100 Firemen/Persons four days to get it under control!

You are something else JB!

Very Nice. Do you find that it fills fairly quickly with media?

I just had to blast a 8cm x 4cm x 3.4 rusty bar. Made up a 'cabinet' using a drinks crate and cling film. served it's purpose, but kept having to vauum up the media.

I think might make something similar to yours only with a couple of doors on the side to pass tuves etc through and a hopper?

with the extraction the media and dust are kept clear ish

so the powder gun turn up

very pleased with it, super qaulity bit of kit

also blagged a oven from work, it used to be used for setting alidite but not been used for about 15 years

so i asked the boss (who happend to be my uncle) he said sure take what you want!

fit's like a glove in the space in the shed

so with the wife at work all weekend i got to work with refurbing bits

so i took these as a examples, some pullies

blasted and cleaned

with a few other bits that i was doing

in the oven

coming out the oven (dont tell the wife i have her oven temp thingy)

hanging up cooling

finished in satin black

it's a bit orange peely but it looks really smart

most of this stuff is of high mileage 30+ years old car so never looks perfect but it is almost as good as new

Nice work as usual JB. I had a look at that new gun, looks very good. I like the fact it all goes neatly away.

How does it do the electostatic bit though? can't see a box any where?

Ubber nice oven as well.

I've been blasting and powder coating bits for my Mrs washing line this week!  Just been fitting it. Don't worry, I'm not going to start a new forum 'Custom Washing lines' (One of those victorian drop from the ceiling jobbies)

Forgot to say, what pressure are you running the gun at? I got a small regulator and took it down to 1.5-2 bar. Don't know what your ambient temperature is at the mo, but I know a lot of people pre-heat the pieces to be powder coated as well. Just been looking close at your pictures. That doesn't look like orange peel to me. (although I'm only looking at a picture) Could it be the surface texture of the underlying metal after blasting coming through?

in the parts after these i put on more powder and they have come out alot better, i think i didn't get a full even coat on the pullies

the airline is @ 30psi but the the gun regulates the flow to a nice cloud like in the instructions

it comes out just like in the video on there site

it is there new type gun without the electric box of tricks

you ground the part with a strap to either you or the gun that your holding, how it does it i dont know but it does  O_o

my uncle has 2 more ovens if anyone wants one?

I'd love one of those Ovens, it's a shame I'm a bit too far away!

I'm waiting for an old Pizza oven to get thrown out!

Okay, thanks for that, I'll have a look around.

What with the 'crisis' and the amount of bars etc closing down, you'd think there would be someone somewhere with a commercial oven going for grabs.

Still, I have my plans neraly complete now. Just got to sort out the size. Dont suppose you know what size the rear beam is do you? I'm guessing that's about the biggest thing I'm going to be 'roasting'.

Not sure without measuring it on the car

I think when I do the beam ill do it a with hot air blowers and glow heaters

As its the biggest part

Looking good!  I've tried using hot air gun, but the finnish isn't as good.

I've had a postponement on work tomorrow so I'll have a measure up and maybe start buying the bracing for the oven.

I'll see if I have some 'photos of the hot air gun method results.

Amazing 'man in shed' work. Really good quality finish - you must be really chuffed with it

well time to drag up the shed thread :)

been doing a few bits over the last few weeks

a small improvement with the oven was to install the rack onto drawer runner, this helps hanging the stuff then slide the whole lot into the over

works a treat :)

then the blasting cabinet remains almost the same with the addition of a 1200w floodlight, helps alot with vision in there

the biggest things was the purchase of some serious extraction

it's a woodworking dust extractor from a local place but there are pritty common on ebay and machine mart, cost me £100 but the cabinet remain 100% free from dust

i was finding that the blasting media was getting very dusty as the paint/rush dust was just settling and i was recurculating it throught the gun all the time

not the dust gets extracted and the heavier media just falls to the bottom

a few bits i've done recently

well happy :)
