Complete new build! Could get interesting!

Rich. the question is did Labradors like bog rolls before the ad campaign or do they see the ads and then think 'oh, that's what I'm supposed to do?'  :P

Well all the big stuff is done for a minute or two as I'm waiting for the final bits of moisture to dry out from the roof beams before fitting the ceiling and then electrics.

In the mean time I've been busy making and refurbing stuff.

Got the old bikes out of the back of the shed and had a good tidy up. Finally made the tool rack for the shed too.

The old black Bomber will get a refrub at some point, assuming I can find some repop decals. Otherwise it'll just remain as it is. It's going on the wall eventually. The old mountain bike was the Bombers replacement and I did all my paper rounds on it as a kid. Poor old thing is showing it's age but with some air in the tyres and a bit of a clean up and adjustment it's already been in use as fitness enhancer

It's beginning to look like a retro bike shop in the garage now

A bit of a refurb to the old fire extinguisher and bracket. Both had gone rusty and manky

IMG_20200510_181054.jpg IMG_20200514_111537.jpg

Couple of shelves went up.

Bit a refurb on the old garage speakers. Got these IMG_20200508_123155.jpg years ago and they were in the old garage for years, covered in dust, overspray, griding dust etc.

IMG_20200508_125010.jpg IMG_20200508_125040.jpg IMG_20200508_125054.jpg

Also finally made a decision on a tool box. and it arrived!

IMG_20200514_110205.jpg IMG_20200514_111350.jpg IMG_20200514_160924.jpg

Very happy! It's just under 5ft tall!!

Moved most of the tools into it from the old broken down tool boxes and emptied my blue box into it.

I'll clean all the overspray from the blue box and then use it for the imperial stuff from my Grandads and for all the 'specials' that have been accumulated over the years.

Next for re-furb are the axel stands, jacks and anything else that's manky and not fir to be seen in a spangley new garage

Looking nice, has Cornwall not been sunny like Devon. Your beams should've dried out by now with all that heat beaming down.

And the big question, when does you bendpak arrive. I hear that's what all the kids are running these days 😂

Thanks Rich.  Yep, nice and sunny but still seeing this on the beams at the end of the garage. This is the area that got really wet during the rain in October and November

IMG_20200521_103933.jpg

What do you reckon? Dry enough yet?

As the Bendpak, well probably not. But the guy that runs the garage where my cars go for MOT and when I finally loose the plot are due to be getting new lifts soon. He has one put aside for me, hopefully. A four poster but a short one in length that they don't use a great deal. It'll either need a new motor or I'll have to get a 3 phase converter but it may well fit the bill.

Question as always, 2 post or 4 post?

We shall see……

Still waiting for the beams to dry out.

I have managed to get some of the external cladding done though!

Looking good. Surely those beams must've dried out by now. The hot dry weather should've sorted that out.

What's the air temperature like in there on a hot day?

I would get both ends of the garage open as much as possible to get air circulation through it. That should speed it up. :)

Ian, the garage is looking mega. Great to see it come together… bet it's a weight off the shoulders. Hope you get to start enjoying it soon to work on the cars.

With the regards to the ramp, I'd say two post is the way to go.
I see you can pick up brand new ones for quiet good money now also there 240volt friendly.

Well done on the progress
💪🏼

Thanks mate, it's been hard work and it's still not finished. Still got ceiling and sound proofing to go in, electrics and to dig and install a soakaway in the garden yet!

I have been using tho, in daylight and with torchlight. Currently breaking the wife's old rusted mini in it and the Derby is in there too, safe and sound and dry!

Thanks for the advice on the ramp. After some thoughts I'll probably end up with either nothing or a 4 post that doesn't need bolting to the floor as with the amount of steel in the floor I'd never be able to drill the holes 😊

Hi Ian, is this all finished now? Any updates? I started building my garage the same time as you but mine is no where near completion yet.

Sorry for the late reply!

Erm kinda. It's certainly in use, but still has no lights (properly) or sockets. I'm currently using extension leads, which are quite annoying but hey ho.

Soakaway and drainage have been completed and the garden somewhat restored.
Patio laid to finish the tie in to the garage from the old path etc and all the rest of the external bits and bobs done.

As you can see, it's definitely in use!

Cheers
