Royal Liver Building Cunard Building and Port Of Liverpool Building
Drive out to Liverpool and parked next to the Liver Building. A breezy stroll along the river and back to the car to find a couple walking round it and looking inside.
They were full of kind words and appreciation and off they walked.
We drove off and stopped a short distance away only to be told by a passing cyclist that the rear n/s tyre was flat - it didn't even feel it!!! 🙄
There'd been a high kerb that had hidden it while the couple were walking round - and Shelley hadn't noticed it either.
"No problem, the spares all good" I thought… only to find it was flat!
🤬🤐🤬🤐🤬🤐
RAC called and the tyre was pumped up and fitted. Got us home for a chippy tea!
I wouldn't mind but I pumped the tyres up before we left - except the spare…. lesson learnt.
Found a screw in the tread… probably from the Dock Road. 😱

Car in today at Blackburn.
Came out on 23rd April 2021 but it wasn't a great finish. Silicone on it, boot lid didn't match the rear quarters.
I wasn't impressed. 😡

Awful drive down in high winds, torrential rain, 50's and tailbacks…. even had to make my own brew when I got there!! 😅
New fuel line pipes and a filter.
Before
After 😎
ATE Power Disc with Brembo pads for better stopping.
Fresh rubber boot and cap for the gear lever, nicely greased up and smooth again. 😎

4.00pm - Camper to VW for engine management light illumination
4.15pm - Shelley was on her way to pick me up when a car scraped her Mini down the offside. Damage to alloy, spat and door mirror.
5.30pm - Took the Golf to the garage to investigate the fuel leak and 'miss' that was noticed at the AGM.
While en route the 'miss' got worse and finally the car conked out 2 minutes away from the garage.
When I popped the bonnet I got a shock!!! The alternator cable was burning up, the battery was fizzing and it seemed moments away from a terminal fire!! 😬😬😬
A knock on 'Mrs Miggins'' door for some tools had me whipping the battery off to make safe and the wiring cooled down.
I got a tow rope from the garage and mcdonut
came out to help me get it to the yard. What a good friend he is in my hour of need!!! 👍
From what I can see, I'll need a new battery, the alternator wiring and the air intake pipe that goes to the air filter housing. We'll see what else when the mechanic has had a look at it!! Not sure why after 19 years of ownership the wires would burn out like that but perhaps they just wore through in an area due to rubbing??

My worst nightmare an electrical fire. Glad you managed to catch it in time and that the car is back on the road.
Looking forward to pics of the new paint job and hood

Like the majority of our cars additional work was required in the way of rear arches (the guy who was meant to have done them in 2021 obviously hadn't!! 🤬). Anyway, the work continued at a slow pace but recently progress has been made.
The cable channel was rotten as a pear. 😱
Rear arches likewise.
Welding up continued on the arches first.
Filling and prep took place next.
Next the cable channel went on. Fabricated by 'Joel' at JW Bevan's in Blackpool.
Flatted off ready for spraying.
Sprayed in fresh LA3A.
